What if we just stopped screwing with classes and specs? Find a spot where they're good and leave them alone

Oh that’s never gonna happen LOL

The whole “finding a spot where they’re good” is massively subjective and would probably take years, if not decades, to find a point where players almost agree on what the “good spot” is for all Specs of any given Class.

I bet if we took every player who achieved, lets say aotc with a given spec in every expansion since it was available, we could get 80% of them to agree on a rough point in time where that spec was at its peak design

We couldnt even get 80% to agree on which tier set was best this expansion.

What about players who like the class they play (whether it’s because of the visuals, fantasy, or something else) and don’t want to play another class? Say someone loves the heavy metal vibe of the Death Knight and raising undead minions, do you suggest they play a Priest because Death Knight hasn’t been updated in some time?

This is a continued lie that I hope one day will finally be laid to rest; even if there were only two classes they wouldn’t be balanced unless they were carbon copies of one another.

What would they put on their quarterly activity reports if they didn’t have a long list of fixes to things they broke?

Have none of you ever worked in corporate America?

I dunno what kinda eggs you’re eating, but you either need to

A. Stop eating raw eggs out of dumpsters at 2am

Or

B. See a doctor

I just want mine left alone.
unholy DK is a lot of fun to play. So why screw with it, get it all messed up again, then spent 80% of an expansion trying to get it balanced and working again?
Sounds insane to me.

thats not what Im talking about and you know it.
Differences in abilties will always cause issues, but we BOTH know we’ve seen the endless screams in here where one class is dramatically out of balance and isnt even close to fair in pvp.
Then they over react and screw somethign else over.
Ive played and read here long enough to know this doesnt need to be THIS damned dramatic.
If they would get the classes where they are enjoyable to play…then LEAVE THEM ALONE as far as DESIGN goes, THEN they could work on the numbers and only have THAT to deal with instead of these joke reworks where now its all screwed up and its going to take most of the expansion trying to balance it again.

Leave the specs / classes that are fun to play alone. Get them balanced. and tweak them here and there.
Dont shred the whole thing and start from scratch.

Sounds like a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Either you’re backpedaling or have no idea what you typed prior.

we’re done here. clearly you are incapable of paying attention to what is said and points made.

Then there’s stagnation and they’re limited on other stuff they can do in the game because they can’t change the toolkits we have to use. Might as well just play classic for your preferred expansion at that point.

It was backpedaling.

He doesn’t care about the health of the game and just wants to turn his brain off while he plays, given his responses to me about the exact same issue. Which is fine, but there are plenty of games out there that he can play with his brain turned off instead of turning World of Warcraft into a stale and dumbed-down game.

lack of cognitive skills on your part does not indicate anything on mine.
and Im not arguing with you about it and since youve decided to do just that, welcome to the ignore list.

I don’t want them to ever make big changes on all classes like Hero Talents, but some specs do need reworks and all of them need better talent balancing. They can slowly add more talents to give more choice (wider, not deeper, and not more points to spend).

Lol, you really wouldn’t want to bet your house on that!

It would not end well. Just case in point frost dk and survival hunter.

If you wanted a best iteration of survival a lot of people would say ranged another large number would say sepulcher tier set unnerfed survival and then you would have a few weird opinions of classic meme melee survival or misc points of melee survival where it might have been liked by a few people at one point and also just wasn’t meta at all. Picking a build regardless and not iterating on it will ruffle a lot of feathers and if the bulid chosen is ranged survival necessitates blizzard build a spec up from the ground up.

Frost dk would have the breath of sindragosa issue. People who play frost now might like the ability but it is one of the most contentious talents in the game and also is likely to be in the “best” iteration of frost. That would sink frost as a spec since breath of sindragosa is a one trick pony that only works in fights where you don’t peel off the boss for any reason.

Also it wouldn’t work well for balance since most of the times a class was at its best it also was probably meta. Many of those specs at their best were nerfed with tangible reasons and if brought back in their most op state would likely require a nerf again. Currently I am visualizing some dark future with venthyr balance druids venthyr holy paladin unnerfed aug evoker end of shadowlands kyrian blood dk and bfa fire mage making the god comp of last patch look like a joke.

Hero talents look interesting enough so far, I’ve seen for more hits then misses though I’m waiting until I see every tree before solidifying my opinion on the matter. The complexity bloat is an issue, but I am genuinely looking forward to trying out a few of the trees I’ve seen so far, frostfire, diabloist, and scalecommander legitimately might push me to those classes come ww.
