Much like Illidan was the bad guy in TBC, he fought us b/c his plans were to appear allied with the Legion while sabotaging it from within.
What if the timeline is flawed? What if our reality is flawed like the Jailer said?
well, then they should have offered us better quest loot to work for them instead of their enemies

The Bronze Dragonflight is garbage. Sometimes they’re allowed to alter the timeline or allow it to be altered for the better, like with the Battle for Darrowshire, or with the War of the Ancients (Highmountain Tauren would not exist if Rhonin, Krasus, and Broxigar never went back in time. The story is still terrible, though.) , and other times they aren’t. I want them to undo the Burning of Teldrassil.

If their goal is to preserve the true timeline no matter the cost tbh I’m wondering why they aren’t trying to destroy the Mag’har orcs from alt Draenor lol

No. Even in TBC, Illidan was firmly against the Legion and was not in an alliance with them only to undermine them. Doomwalker, the World Boss in Shadowmoon Valley was created by the Legion to bring Illidan to justice for failing to destroy Ner’zhul. As Kil’jaeden promised.
What is interesting though is that some of their attempts to alter the timeline basically ends with a similar result. Take the blue dragonflight for example. Prior to the time traveling plot added to the WotA. The Blue dragonflight were meant to go practically extinct. Due to most of them getting wiped out by Deathwing and the rest left to rot as Malygos withdrew and went insane. And yet what did saving some portion of the Blue Dragonflight lead to? The Nexus War. Which saw most of the Blue Dragonflight being killed, including Malygos himself.
However an aspect of magic was needed to defeat Deathwing in the end. Even Nozdormu knew that going back into the past to steal the Dragon Soul was breaking his oath to Aman’thul when it came to protecting the timelines. That is kinda the point. There isn’t much of a difference between Nozzy now and his future self. And that extends to the rest of the Bronze Dragonflight. They are all hypocrites. Hence the infinite dragonflight.
