what if blizzard is just using the new bfa level scaling tech to test out the idea of scaling EVERY ZONE to max level? there is a precedent for this with wod level scaling tech (yes there was minor level scaling in wod even if it wasn’t mentioned in the patch notes just not to the same degree.) and then applying it worldwide with legion prepatch. same thing with the squish. first they did the stat squish idea in wod prepatch. and then expanded upon it with the level squish in shadowlands prepatch.
I’m hazarding a guess to say they’re gearing up for a new overhaul to leveling, where they’re going to remodel and update the zones that were updated in Cataclysm to feature new storylines and rewards.
It makes no sense to push new players into BFA by default since its storyline continues in Shadowlands, which is now in Chromie Time. On top of that, you go through BFA and then once you hit 60 you’re suddenly told that several years went by when you take the Dragonflight intro quest.
I hope that’s their plan. Rewards need to be challenging to get.
If they do it. I will gladly at last be able to talk my husband out of ever coming back to wow.
So part of me hopes it happens.
if they do i will be forced to call it quits as well since it takes away the character progression and makes it pointless. if your enemy is just going to keep scaling with you what’s the point of getting stronger when they are just going to be as strong as you are?
Yea me too. I switch main and like to run old raids for mog. If all previous raid will scale up to max level and no legacy buff I don’t see the point in paying them.
Is like blizzard is punishing people to change mains or new players from getting the mog they want even when the content to get them is many expansion ago.
WoW stops being a MMORPG if they do full scaling.
If it is optional I’m fine with it. Not a fan of it being forced though .
I’m already not happy with it at the moment while unlocking my Zandalar bases.
I think they did this to combat the fact no one wants to do SL from 50-60. New thing is in order to level in Chromie Time, You now have to have at least one level 60.
There was a huge pushback to scaling being throw into legion and ever since it has been a big thorn in the side of WoW’s open world content. Now, it is hurting the leveling dungeons as well.
I for one am sick to death of things constantly being adjusted, if i can solo something today, i should be able to solo it tomorrow, none of these moving goalposts nonsense to keep it challenging (re: time consuming) from one expansion to the next.
It would be nice to have Azeroth updated post Cataclysm to a more zone by zone ongoing story ala living world like in GW2.
You can have faction peace, but you can truly never have zero war on Azeroth, there will inherently always be groups within Horde/Alliance that refuse to get along. It still makes for great internal conflict and writing possibilities.
the level scaling in guild wars 2 was the exact reason i quit that game.
Hmmm…
If the whole world was to scale as I level all the way to max level from old content to current, it could either be a hit or miss for me depending on a couple things.
1: If it was optional similar to that of Chromie time, I would be ok with this since I like to do older dungeons for fun with those who are leveling from time to time.
2: If it was NOT optional such as everywhere now scales to max level, I could end up leaving the game for good BUT, if instead I had the option to get decent gear from older dungeons, raids and such just like the current expansion then I can see something there perhaps. Though the downside is I could no longer farm for transmog and such, at least not as easily so to speak.
So while the idea is not a full no for me, it would really depend on how such a thing would be done, with there being little room for me being on board for the idea as I prefer it be optional, and if I did have scaling on, I would like the do older raids and stuff if the gear was good enough to keep up with the current expansion, maybe not as good, but close enough perhaps.
Just my two coppers.
