What if they removed personal loot and enabled master loot?

Coming from classic and seeing how they handle there gear which I thought was neat. Automatically you made connections with peeps who just let you have that gear you needed or you finally got that last bis piece from Raid and your guild in congratulating you! Could that happen in retail with how current gear is like? Would it be a good idea? Can I butter this toast with a small great axe?

Retail -had- that gearing system and it was removed because people complained about it. Yes, you could make good connections with people who were fine with sharing and caring, the opposite also happened. Master looters would give gear to their friends just cause, or keep the good gear and drops for themselves. Then you had guilds that would deny trials gear or give them the non optimal pieces then complain about how the players weren’t optimal. And yes, i’m well aware that many of these complaints were probably very very rare. And they were probably hyperbole but doesn’t change the fact that they happened. Blizz got tired of the complaining and made it so you got what you got and if it could help someone else…oh well, it’s yours now.

So everyone just gives away their gear drops in Classic?
Wow, that’s not what I remember from vanilla back in 2004.

Sounds like a lot of reason blizz changes stuff now n days. But your definitely not wrong

Some people/guilds abused masterloot. People who didn’t understand that they could just leave groups/guilds where this was a problem complained until Blizzard changed it.

My lovelies… this is a bait thread. Don’t get sucked in.

What do you mean? It’s a legit question. I started the game when personal loot was enabled so I never experienced master loot in retail so I’m curious on what was it like

But the forums would be a lot less entertaining without them.

What else is there to do on Sundays here?

The loot system in Classic is the worst part of it. Every thing is now a gold DKP and before that I saw 2 guilds go under from loot council which was interested in gearing themselves and their friends up.

'You are a day one progression off tank who hasn’t got a piece in 2 months? Well sorry the main tank really wants it for when he PvPs.".

Not get sucked into another ML debate meant only to trigger people on Sunday?

a gild will go , same afecta as master loots if u r have a bad leders

Guess I got lucky in my guilds. Honestly it’s by a guild to guild basis. And server I guess. I had loot Council guilds that were fair

Personal loot is the best system they have come up with. The only problem is they still let people trade gear.

It’s not bait. I’m asking a legit question. It almost like you just read the title and nothing else

Can’t talk Election Day here, so that trigger is out. Gotta stick to what’s allowed :stuck_out_tongue:

If they re-enabled Master Loot, the game would get better again and allow for far superior loot systems like EPGP and less loot would go to waste due to the stupidity of ilvl restrictions… but you would have a bunch of malcontents on the forums that never experienced guild corruption telling you for absolute certain that they know it was a massive problem based on their 5th and 6th hand knowledge they heard from their brother’s friend’s cousin’s girlfriend’s yoga instructor.

I’ve been playing since BC back in 2007, and raided a little in BC, hardcore in wrath, and eventually stopped due to burnout in cata. I was in numerous guilds during that time, and even server xferred to join a more progression focused guild in early wrath (which fell apart two weeks later because of real life issues between several members). In none of the seven or eight guilds I was apart of during this time was there ever loot drama or corruption.

I say this only as my own personal anecdote, and I have no doubts other people have had to deal with ML abuse. I think a large part of the issue though was that people would join a guild in hopes of progressing, but not even asking about that guilds loot rules ahead of time. Then they would get mad later when they found out what the rules were.

I actually find that happens more now than then. If people are letting you have gear then it sounds like you are just doing casual runs of earlier raids.

Or you saved up your DKP for that BiS piece? Because in retail there would be DKP or another system.
