Some of the reason people kept choosing alliance is because in the story horde kept taking L’s so imo it would be nice if they didn’t stray away from alliance Vs horde and actually let us do something that makes alliance say… wow these guys are powerful. Instead alliance are just like… hey! Guess what guys! Another one of those dudes is dead! Go figure!
The bad guys are already winning…
They should have done this in Shadowlands so they could retcon the whole thing when the Jailer remade reality. Oh well, lack of imagination is what made the expansion bad in the first place.
I’m glad you find repetitive farming and random items that can be the absolute worst, best, or anywhere in-between for you “fun”. I guess I just have higher standards, and better taste. ![]()
sure your not mistaking legion for something else?
cause i remember doing alot more then just A “Chores list”.
cause i did pvp, pve, world quests, worked on my profession, played around on alts n so on.
there was also towers to make you wanna earn what they have, n so on, we also could do events in areas with legion invasions, and even the ship area we can do that was “kill demons, summon bosses for extra reward”
DF felt too cartoonish for me.
a wanna-be deathwing gone extra crazy, died, and we are expected too ignore everything that happened in the past.
plus the profession in DF is unnecessarily annoying.
GW2 had something like this in their previous xpac where you not only had to find your way out of the Mists (realm of the dead) but you also had to recover your memories and identity before you could return to your body. I thought it was super neat ![]()
The bad guys winning is ultimately just… bad.
People fantasize the concept because it rarely happens. And there’s a reason for this. If the bad guys win all it does is undermine everything you did.
The bad guys winning has happened non stop since cata. Garrosh was made into a villain and killed off. Sylvanas lived instead having her head put on a pike. Shadowlands exists. BFA exists. TWW is about to exist. WE still don’t have Paladins for kul’tirans, Orcs and gnomes.
makes me think of the elder scrolls online game where you had to go on a long journey too recover yer soul and kick molagg bal in the
to recover em.
That was a great adventure too!
my only regret on that journey…
was leaving a dark elf with cannibals

Would be kinda cool if he lost his faith and fell to the void.
It would also fit the story of the coming expansions really well
or he grows up n learns the worlds not black n white…
It is a Trope because it is very effective when used properly. Qui-Gon Jinn getting cut in half in Star wars to make the Maul fight impactful, the illusion of losing Gandalf when he got yanked into the abyss, the death of Boromir, and Smaug’s retaliation in Lord of the Rings. Bad guys have to have meaningful victories.
What did Raszageth do? She hit Wrathion with a rock and got into a boxing match with Alexstrasza with baby arms, her only real victory was post-mortem. Fyrakk? All bluster and hot air, the closest he came to having a victory was roasting a centaur and some molepeople. Compared to Deathwing what was winning all of Cata, Arthas having his sporadic appearances and victories through Wrath… heck, the Jailer’s victories were undermined by his whole “it was always me all along” mess.
The point of giving a bad guy the win is to sometimes amp up the villain but it has to be done right. Arthas one-shotting Saurfang was done well, short, simple, not unexpected, but him one-shotting the raid to give the paladin the final swing was kind of meh from a storytelling perspective. Compare that to Sylvanas one shotting Saurfang, it was a fight which seemed to have build up to all of the sudden lolnopedeathpowers, which followed to the fall of Sylv’s story into full “nuh uh you don’t understand” villain.
The bad guys DID win, that’s why everything has been watered down in gaming. Corporations killed creativity.
They did. Bobby got a golden parachute and is failing upwards onto the next adventure.
The bad guys won to some degree in this expansion. Iridikron was able to hand off the Voidsoul to Xalatath. The bad guys always win to some degree so that there will be more plot threads. I can think of very few times when we have unequivocally won without there being a condition to it.
We stopped Fyrakk, but Iridikron didn’t even care about Amirdrassil. Iridikron used Fyrakk to distract us from what he was doing.
Corpse run after the Big Bad One-shots us after we kill one of her champions only for the Big Bad to have already left after wiping out half of the World’s population with a single snap leaving Loot on the Floor and forcing us to fight one more lackey in order to escape the Raid is what the OP wants yes?
Nah. Entire suggestion was based on something happening during the campaign quests to have a more notable impact, not as a raid or dungeon mechanic. You know, the things we do in the single player aspect of WoW.
N’zoth should have won. BFA and SL should have been the nightmare he put us in, and then we came out of it knowing he was still alive and fooled us.
