…that the Titans really were good guys and gals the whole time, and anything contrary was just Void manipulation or misinformation?
(At this point, that’d be subversive and a twist too)

the ancient conspiracy is the exact opposite of what they themselves wrote? also thats literally not a subversion at all.
So in another thread, someone said something about how Azeroth can’t be an antagonist because we live on Azeroth and in trying to show how Azeroth could be an antagonist, I accidentally stumbled on an idea I liked.
What if Azeroth is kinda evil tho?
What if, after Azeroth hatches, she as the super-mega-ultra-powerful prime titan (whatever that means) decides the creation she was born into isn’t worth keeping, and decides to wipe it all out to start fresh?
And what if the titans suspected that could be the case?
All their manipulations, all their attempts to influence Azeroth against her will is because they knew they couldn’t destroy her, but they also couldn’t let her “grow” on her own because she will end everything. And they conspired to keep this a secret because they didn’t want the other cosmic forces to get involved, knowing that could just end in a different ultimate and final fate. And then in the end, in the final raid of TLT, we (empowered by the titans) end up fighting an awakening Azeroth, weakening her enough to put her back to sleep and we imprison her world soul just like the titans imprisoned the old gods.
There is absolutely no chance this is what’ll end up playing out, but I really like the poetry of it. In the end, we have to start behaving just as the titans behaved. Imprisoning instead of killing, locking away Azeroth instead of letting her just be.
Pulls off Thadeus’ mask
RADISH!?
there is a titan underground
I don’t think there’s misinformation or Void manipulation with Algalon trying to set Azeroth a blaze. At the very least the Titans can see themselves as well intentioned extremist, though that does rely on their exact intentions and goals.
For all we know the Titans have various goals different from one another. After all the myth of Elun’Ahir suggests disagreement between Aman’thul and Eonar.
When everything is subversive, the only way to make a new subversive work is to undo the subversion and go back to the roots. (eg; if subversion is to make a monster races good guys but it’s been done so often it’s cliche, making them bad guys again is the new subversion).
He’s on to me!
Just kidding, who’s Radish?
Nah that’d be lame “oh actually the titans themselves were lying to double cross the audience” odyn and that other titan in tww spelled out pretty plainly what was happaning
I don’t know if this is what you’re getting at but my conspiracy theory has been that the titans conspired with the naaru to set things in motion in such a way to make this final confrontation with the Void happen on Azeroth.
They want Midnight to happen because it will be their best chance to take down the Void once and for all.
This is the greatest mystery.
I must be getting old and out of touch with the kids. That went over my head.
A poster named Rashidi I think. I must say it’s a bit nasty and off-putting to me when people name-drop posters who haven’t posted in a long time like that. I took a few months break from WoW, and someone here did it to me.
Btw, the theory sounds a bit like cope. How do you explain Odyn’s directive to hide all the advancements of the Black Empire? Was that just a void manipulation too?
Only other person I’ve seen suggest that the Titan conspiracy is … that they were basically as written before the TWW twist. As I brought up then, Metzen’s presentation took place before TWW’s archive quest existed. In other words: it demands that Metzen implied a twist was coming for a concept that didn’t exist yet, which means they went out of their way to implement a weekly quest for the sole purpose of going “HAHA, JUST KIDDING, TRICKED YOU, ARCHAEDAS LIES!”
Oh. I have no idea who Rashidi is. But thanks.
It’s not a theory of mine, I’m just asking a “what if” question.
if that is the reveal they go for, it won’t seem like they’ve learned anything from shadowlands and the reactions thereto
