Aegwynn fought the avatar of Sargeras and in turn was secretly corrupted by the spirit of Sargeras himself. He corrupted the unborn child within her, and created Medivh, the one to open the Dark Portal for the very first time.
What would happen if Aegwynn never fought the Avatar of Sargeras? Or that Sargeras never thought to use such a method in the first place?
A lot of Aegwynn’s dark history of hoarding the power of the Guardian after becoming possessed by Sargeras was changed in Legion. Rather than Aegwynn going crazy, the Council of Tirisfal at the time was corrupt and wanted to exploit the Guardian for their own means. I say all this because this largely means that if she was never corrupted, history would progress similarly to how it would if she was.
Aegwynn and Nielas Aran would still likely meet, fall in love, and conceive a child in order to keep the Guardian’s power out of the hands of the Council. Medivh, meanwhile, likely would never have fallen into the coma brought on by Sargeras’s powers awakening, sparing Aran’s life as well. Before becoming corrupted, Medivh was a good man, a treasured hero, and a friend to both Llane and Lothar.
And of course, without Sargeras’s influence, Medivh would never have brought the Horde into Azeroth, and he never would have needed to be put down by his friends. Everything after that changes the history of Azeroth in such huge ways, we could make hundreds upon hundreds of threads detailing what would be different. Without the orcs, Llane and Lothar would survive. Khadgar would never be rapidly aged. The Seven Kingdoms would possibly have taken to warring with each other.
Aegwynn’s possession would be to Azeroth what Grommash drinking the Blood of Mannoroth was to Draenor. If it changes, you could squeeze an entire expac out of it.
Perhaps there may have been wars between the Alliance kingdoms however I doubt any of them would have been almost extinction level events that the horde almost pulled.
Old gods corruption would have still ended up a thing so it would depend if the Alliance would form to face those threats or not. Seems like Lordearon and stormwind were on good terms and probably would have allied up to deal with them.
Hard to say for sure. The most prominent thing that comes to mind would likely be the Cataclysm, which was bound to occur even without the Horde’s coming. No Horde means no Thrall to combat Deathwing. You could argue that a Wildhammer or Kul Tiran shaman could’ve taken the place as the Earth’s Aspect, but it’s unlikely that they would’ve seen as high a success without the involvement of Horde shamans.
hmm the Scourge might have also been a thing considering that Orcs would still be corrupted by kiljaden and Nerzul sent to the planet from the nether. However no other orcs would have managed to get here.
Which also does mean that Jaina would have landed on Kalimdor and met the Tauren/Nightelves.(if she managed to come across them before they were wiped out).
That means the earthen ring may exist, which could have lead to another earth warder.
