As a healer I would sign up to heal two grouped up DPS on the 3s ladder.
It wouldn’t be perfect, but I’m so sick of non-coordinated DPS in shuffle and the dampening in shuffle.
“why not just look in lfg”
I dunno for some reason I feel I would sign up for this, but I almost NEVER sign up or even consider LFG.
Match me up with some DPS who are similar MMR. Maybe I meet new people I want to play with after the match. Or maybe I don’t and Q up again because it doesn’t work out.
Either way I’m playing real 3s with a potential of finding new teammates. Without LFG just Q up and play.
Something like this should of been done instead of the shuffle in the first place.
Q up as a solo, duo, or fully premade team and get a matchmade partner/s to fill the slots. Each “bracket” gets its own ladder but all uses to same player pool so qs aren’t awful as they are now.
“But I’ll face a premade team as a solo/duo group! ” People best premades all the time as yolo groups plus you wouldn’t be competing with them in the ladder as a solo/duo so who cares? Enjoy insanely fast q times and play.
Matchmaking for partners (as I imagine) would look something like you choosing what specs you want to be paired with, knowing the more limited you make your options the longer it takes you to play, and the system pairs you with someone with similar mmr.
Reward structure may need to change to accommodate things. Premade 3s req probably need to go up while solo/duo go down to make up for ability, or lack of, to coordinate with teammates with ease.
He may have read it incorrectly but to be honest he’s still correct. It would be a boost fest. It’s also just too late to go down this route now we have SS we should improve that, not create more split in the player base.
This would be an improved version of SS. And it would UNSPLIT the playerbase instead bringing more people BACK to the 3v3 ladder.
Also this is categorically harder and stupider to boost with one less person. As it currently stands you would just boost in 3s with 3 people versus my proposal which would be boosting with only 2 people. Anyways don’t get that point.
You may have read it incorrectly?
To be a bit nicer. Solo shuffles biggest issue is how it is not supportive of healers. Hence really long Q times. As a healer I hate quick dampening and I hate how uncoordinated it is. So I tried to come up with an idea that is more appealing to me as a healer.
Premades would absolutely wallop solo and duo parties.
Virtually no one would use it but the Premades.
Because rewards are gated by a CR, the casual players interested in this mode would quickly find out they aren’t getting the CR they want, cause of the Premades. Then they’d stop using the mode.
Some people might not be able to handle it. And yeah it would be more challenging to Q up as a duo dps or solo healer than going out and finding friends.
But if Q times are 5-10 minutes instead of 15-30 minutes. People will play this over shuffle. Everyone, eventually, gets locked at a certain rating. Then you have to improve.
Players who can’t handle that fact will quit no matter what bracket they are in. And most likely those players will vacate shuffle in the coming seasons for BGB anyways. I know that when I need conquest boxes I will be in BGB over shuffle as soon as I can
