Whacky theory, what if the Alliance decided to bury Arthas’ body in Stormwind and that is actually what Sylvanas wants. That said body holds the secret to making the Forsaken virtually immortal.
How the helm is in northrend and frostmourne is shattered
I said body and not his armor, maybe said body will be needed for some sort of ritual. I mean, I assume said body was enchanted by the Lich King. Hell, when Illidan attacked IC the LK empowered Arthas.
Yes but the power was from the helm the seord and the armor there was little special about the body
I’d prefer they left anything involving Arthas out of the future story, because 1, necromancing his story could get really stupid and 2, i’d rather see them move the story forward than backward.
They could do something like this without doing damage, but I don’t think it’s worth it. Anything involving resurrecting Arthas’ body… no.
We know that Sylvanas wants Stormwind to cripple the Alliance and bolster the Forsaken, which makes enough sense. Pulling some Arthas plot out of nowhere, not so much.
Logic suggests that it is entombed at Icecrown. Technically Bolvar orders Fiordring and the Heroes away from his presence IMMEDIATELY. So presumably he is the last person we know that had posession of Artha’s corpse. The shattered pieces of Frostmourne are reforged as the Death Knight’s Frost Artifact.
Meh. Probably not. I, for one, don’t know what kind of secret’s his corpse would hold, since much of his powers probably left him when the helm was lost. Further than that, Sylvanas has never stated anything past just taking Stormwind to bolster the Forsaken’s ranks - I doubt she’s jumping at the chance to resurrect the person she hates most in the world, even if she could theoretically control him.
Given her own track history, I doubt that she’d be stupid enough to attempt that.
Well I mean… there was at least twenty five other people there with Fordring. It stands to reason that one of them could have collected the Prince of Lordaeron’s corpse. Also, he just says “leave this place and never return,” not “GET OUT RIGHT NOW, TOUCH NOTHING, LEAVE THAT BODY.” Honestly, I doubt that Arthas was just left there.
There was no public burial, and that was pretty much the safest place to leave it. As supposed to bringing it somewhere that some cultist would later steal it.
Few people in WoW get a public burial that we’re privy to, and it’s doubtful that Arthas would be among them, given how caustic his reputation was. Plus, if Arthas getting risen again was a concern (which seems impossible, there’s been no cases of raising an undead twice), Icecrown would be the LAST place I’d think to leave it.
And there is that mysterious tomb in Stormwind with the Lordareon symbol carved on it…
Arthas is absolutely in there, everyone else who that could be - Terenas, Uther, Tiffin - already have a burial site, or at least a memorial. I see little other reason for them to inexplicably add a nameless tomb right after Arthas kicks it.
We know Sylvie has some further diabolical plan than simply mass rezzing new undead. I am not even suggesting raising Arthas would be the goal, just that his body might have the capacity/secret to making any forsaken/undead to never have any wear and tear. I assume Arthas was planning on keeping the same body for all of eternity.
If anyone was that worried about Arthas being raised, they’d burn the body to ashes and scatter them most throughly.
Maybe they did. Maybe they didn’t. Either way, I doubt they’d leave him in the heart of the Scourge’s home right after electing a new Lich King.
I am up to his resurrection and KT because they barely did something in Wotlk except throwing some cheese lines and being beaten as raid boss. I found even heretic the forsakens in general had survived for more time than him.
Honestly, if there’s any justice in this world, I’d hope that Bolvar raised him as a mindless shambling husk and then chained him so he’s endlessly plodding around the First Legion Forward Camp. That way if there’s even the tiniest shred of him left in that cold dead body, all he’d see is the wreckage of the first time he raised his sword against his own men.
… man, I’m just dark today.
Where? I want to check it out.
It may be possible that Arthas found a way to protect himself from decay and tear and it’s even more possible that he doesn’t and Sylvanas just thinks he does and plans to make off with the corpse for study!
I’ve seen this theory pop up before and why would Stormwind have Arthas’ cursed-as-hell body in Stormwind city?
And why would his body hold the secret? If anything, it’d be in the Helm of Dominion, so she’d need to head to Icecrown.
