What, if anything could WoW learn from Bg3?

I say multiclassing.

Balancing wow is impossible so lets just say who cares about balance and make it fun!

Druid lock here I come!

Passion into their product?

IDK two very different games.

Other MMO’s (and even some WoW private servers I’ve known about in the past) have had features that basically amounted to multiclassing. Personally, while it sounds fun, I think it doesn’t work in a game like this. Single player games, or extremely small-group games (like BG3 multiplayer, like a tabletop group) it can be neat, but in a game like WoW, the size of WoW, it will end up leading to less diversity in group composition than we have now.

Doesn’t sound like a bad idea Death Knight Rouge, here I come!

I don’t understand how people are comparing two entirely different game styles.

Multi-classing would require such a massive overhaul to how talents/abilities work so that there is actual synergy between the 13 different class trees and the 39 different specs that it would be easier for them to just balance what we have already

dk warlock = necromancer.
mage rogue = spell theif.
would be rad.

i think they should learn how to tell a story.
like, i have a buddy that came from FF14. he said he has zero idea whats going on, zero clue who is what or when is where. he said a MQ setting in 14 is what wow needs. i think baldurs gate can tell a great single player experince story.

Honestly I’d say it’d probably be better to go the route of FFXIV concerning classes if we’re going the route of multiple classes on one character.

Also on an unrelated note, better looking dragon people. While yes Dragonborn don’t have wings I still think they look leagues better then Dracthyr.

About 90% of the BG3 content I’ve seen is people simping for characters so WoW needs romanceable characters we can simp for especially if they’re vampires.

I probably wrote the same thing you did about a week and a bit ago. But having played it I do think there is some value in learning from its successes.

The game style is different but there can be concepts that could still be brought to WoW’s benefit. (Whether it be multi-classing, cinematics, storytelling maybe??)

The mention of multi-classing kinda brought up a memory of the way azerite power and corruption could significantly change your playstyle. Yes there was a BiS but having the flexibility to change your game style a bit was pretty cool (by going Twilight Devastation or stacking versatility or using that void tendril thing). Making talents that delve into another class tree could be an idea

legit if i could marry mankriks wife… that would be rad.

Also known as, take really big risks and be happy when they work out.

You know what Blizz could do? Put aside their ego and listen to their customers like Larian did with the epilogue endings. Larian made a decision, the community didn’t agree with it, and instead of telling the community “you think you do but you don’t,” they went back and are making changes.

They had the ability to leave their game in open beta for 3 years…that’s not an option that Blizzard has. I doubt the Blizzard development cycle could adapt to fan feedback that quickly.

This is a change they are making after EA about endings that weren’t a part of early access since it’s act 3 stuff and EA only went to the end of act 1. Meaning the changes that Larian are making are to things that only came out a month ago.

So EA has zero bearing on the changes im talking about

A turn based, story driven, strategy game is far different than what wow does. Completely different ball park
