Personally. I think it would be great to increase our free trial to unlimited with restrictions OBVIOUSLY, and up to either the last expansion before current or the expac before that. Get more people to play, let them see some newer zones and dungeons, allow them to chat in a group instance if they can’t already. This could revitalize the older zones and I think it would be a great PR move. It may even cause level appropriate raids in those older zones from f2p players. That would be cool and open a whole new world (of warcraft)
If they open the free trial up higher, it opens the road to in-game micro transactions:
“Oh, we see you are lvl 50 now, but if you want to run dungeons, you can buy our unlimited TWW Dungeon pass for $29.95. Oh, you want to mog your gear, here is a Transmog unlock for level 21-80 for just $14.95.”
Every little thing in the game will become a micro-transaction, when it is just cheaper to buy the game for $30 and the monthly for $13 (all on sale of course).
I think the free trial right now is incredibly generous as is. You get access to an insane amount of content.
Gold farming would be way too easy and without a sub to balance it out would crash out the token losing blizz money.
I think they should just make it a few hours and that’s it. Your first month is “free” you can blast past 20 in that time no problem.
the free trial should go up to level 70 and use of full chromie time for an expansion of the players choice.
however they are locked out of raids and can only queue solo dungeon
Can’t think of any negatives of opening it up at least a bit more.
Could encourage more people to play the game
I’d miss “sdfghhgg” the dice rolling orc behind the AH if it were gone.
I think we need to seperate free trial and freemium to really ask these questions.
