What if when a warlock drained your soul and made a soul shard out of you or whatever, you couldn’t respawn anymore because your soul was consumed (you couldn’t even release out of your body anymore to become a ghost). 
I guess that’s valid on the hardcore servers. 
Thats why i keep another handy.

On hardcore could someone kill another player… get the soul shard then put it in their bank forever or do soul shards work that way?
In RL I am a ginger. That is going to be one really disappointed warlock.
Warlocks aren’t the only one that takes souls 
I don’t think hardcore works that way in general. But it’d honestly be kinda cool if it did (like, if soul drain kills gave the warlock the power to bring back the player as one of their demons, consume the soul killing the player off for good, or just store their soul in their bank for eternity (or use the soul shard to bring back the player)).

We Warlocks don’t steal souls.
A Soul Shard is exactly what is sounds. Just a tiny little piece of a soul. It’s not the whole soul.
So we only take a tiny little piece. It will heal in time. In 10 to 20 years you will be good as new.
Demon Hunters are the ones you gotta watch out for and avoid like the plague. They don’t just steal souls. They eat them

Only a tiny piece? I’ve been breaking my own soul for ages. At first they were misshapened and jagged. Wretched to look at. But now I’ve practically got it down to an art form. So if you can make use of my fractured soul, then by all means take however many you like.

Something about druid souls being tied to the Dream so we rubber band back. Or some… sorta something. I need to go back and sharpen up my memory on my lore pertaining to druids. On other characters, I have paid warlocks to soulstone my soul and have them locked away in secret vaults so a couple of people who might die have a doorway back to life.
Mm. We use your shards to make intimate jewelry.
