Neither does Dream Foil, Golden Sansam, Blindweed, Mountain Silversage, Gromsblood, Plaguebloom, etc., either.
Black Lotus is its own flower, that’s scarce and rare to find.
I’ve only ever seen black lotus in Silithus, but I’ve heard that they can spawn in EPL and Winterspring, as well. I just have better luck in Silithus LOL

There are a few max level herbs that can now spawn as a black lotus (like plague bloom).
It was one of the changes for SoM
But yea - only black lotus herb will drop black lotus.

You’re still not entirely wrong because you can’t get black lotus from a non-black lotus plant.
They just increased the rate of black lotus spawns by adding end game herb nodes to the list of possible spawn locations.
In original classic / vanilla black lotus was location specific. It would always spawn in the same location/node.

This was the thread in question, the wording might have caused the confusion that Black Lotus can drop while gathering other herbs.
From what I can see, nodes that aren’t usually Black Lotus nodes have a chance to be one.

So far I think I’ve gotten a lotus from plaguebloom and dreamfoil in SoM.
As a rule of thumb, I think any herb that remains orange to pick at 300 can drop it.
It does indeed say max level herbalists have a slight chance to get a black lotus from high level herbs in SoM. There is also videos of people getting it from dreamfoil. Just Google black lotus farming in SoM.

I see a lot of people in here giving wrong info.
I, like you have picked a black lotus from a Dreamfoil Herb. Got both the Dreamfoil and the Black lotus. Just today in fact. and it happened in Azshara where no Black Lotus spawns.

I thought they changed the spawn rate - not what it drops from.
I can confirm that Dreamfoil can rarely drop a Black Lotus. That’s the only herb I’ve gotten one from. I’ve heard Plaguebloom and probably Mountain Silversage and Icecap can as well. Not sure about the lower level herbs. It’s pretty damn rare though. I’ve looted probably several hundred nodes in Eastern Plaguelands and only found one. Maybe it’s just bad luck, but it seems very rare.
I can also confirm that Black Lotus nodes appear more frequently. I’ve found 4 of them. And two of them were in the same zone only 15ish minutes apart from one another. I’m almost positive that they used to only spawn once per hour in a handful of zones (Eastern Plaguelands, Burning Steppes, Winterspring and Silithus).
That’s very interesting that someone got one from a node in Azshara. Can anyone else confirm this? I wondered if the high end nodes could drop them there (since Black Lotus doesn’t normally appear in Azshara).
And yes, all of this only applies to Season of Mastery.
Dream foil, plaguebloom, maybe ice cap and silversage would be my guess. The zones we lvl in last winterspring plaguelands and silithus.

I’ve asked around and have found no one who has looted a Lotus from Icecap, but it still might drop it.
I had a Black Lotus drop from an Ice Cap node in Winterspring.
I’ve also had an extra Black Lotus drop from a Black Lotus.
