What happens with third piece of gear with embelishments

Anybody know what happens if I add an embellishment to gear and I need a third item? Can I remove the embellishment, or is it irrelevant because I would be crafting the gear - or having it crafted.

I’m asking because I’m crafting my first staff, and I don’t know what optional reagents to include.

Maximum is 2 embellishments. Unless we get a version of flavour pocket for TWW. It just won’t let you equip your third item. Or you will need to get powder from Griftah to erase on in a re-craft.
