What happens to my character after season is over?

Hello!

Was just curious what happens to my character after participating in a season? Will the character be eligible to participate in the next seasons? Will my achievements carry over to retail?

Who knows they said its deleted for SoM but they let us go to wrath OR era at the end a year later

Yeah, at the end of SoM they opened limited time free transfers to your choice of WotLK server, then the SoM server was deleted.

This is a good question. It will be hard to be too invested in my character, if they will be deleted a year later.
I am not sure exactly how they could move you to another realm though, with new items being added. The abilities are all dependent on Runes, so they could just disappear, but the new items and maybe even learned recipes would remain right?

In Q&A with blizzard, they answered that they were uncertain about its future and their action would be based on players’ feedbacks.
In short, if the SoD is a success, they will make more future plans for it or at least make it a permanent realm. If it fails, “that’s it, you will have to move your chars to one of the existing servers”.

They said they are unsure, but characters will definitely have a place and will not just be wiped/deleted.

thank you all for the replies! honestly i can’t see myself no-lifing SOD and then just dumping all my progress straight into the trash before next season kicks off.

I never was big on POE or Diablo seasons for this exact reason. Fall in love with your character, few months later throw it into the trash and start again.

No. What they actually said was that our SOM toons would be going over to regular Classic only after SOM.
