I mean, Blizz hasn’t confirmed anything and it is likely that pre patch will come out in May-June, but what if it doesn’t? I know a ton of people who’ve resubbed to get ready for it to drop in a few weeks. Would blizzard face any blowback? It’s not their fault but lmao if it doesn’t come out until July-August. I feel like people are putting waaaaaay too much stock in the May 18th date lol
Then people cry, blizzard continues to be out of touch but make bank because nobody will stop using their products.
My sub, by coincidence, expires may 19th. I opted to pay for the april - may month even though i’m basically prepped just cause i felt cancelling for 1 month wasn’t worth it. Still a few things i can do.
If we don’t at least have an announcement by may 18th, i’m unsubbing till prepatch.
That said, even if you ignore the datamined info, may 18th fits the timeline. I expected it to be out that week even before beta was started.
Then you wait until June, and if it doesn’t come by June, you wait until July, and if it doesn’t come by July, you wait until August and onward!
Life goes on? It’ll come out when it comes out.
If they really were out of touch, people wouldn’t be using their products. They wouldn’t be doing nearly as well as they are.
It will come out in June
We all wait longer. Some people threaten to unsub (but won’t.) There will be tears, jeers, and gnashing of teeth on the forums.
In other words, same stuff different day.
As much as I hate to admit it, this is the truth. They’re clearly in touch with enough people to keep making money.
True… but they’re clearing not doing as well as they used to so there is some evidence they’ve lost touch with a great number of users.
I dunno man. I’ve been paying attention to the changes Blizzard has made. For the most part, they give into popular demand. The changes made do piss off some people, but I think most people are happy.
They used to have 12 million players. Now they have maybe 2 million?
Their attention has wandered.
It’s a slow painful death
It’s unlikely the prepatch doesn’t come out in may, but it wouldn’t’ really be a big deal if it didn’t. A summer release of TBC is very unlikely if blizzard really understands there classic audience. Adults don’t want to be sitting inside in the middle of summer playing videogames. The best chance is august.
The “tone def” and “out of touch” arguments are reductive. It’s also an old game. People get bored and move on. Life happens. Players come and go as expansions are released.
I’ve taken multiple long-term breaks myself. Retail is alive and well, whether we like it or not. Classic is doing well, regardless of the changes.
Did you mean to reply to me? I didn’t say any of the things you commented upon.
I merely pointed out that WoW subscriptions are down by 84% from their peak and that this is evidence that ActiBlizz has lost touch with a good part of their base – and has failed to attract a like number of new players.
Do with that data point as you will.
It will give me more time to get my druid to 60. I would rather it be done right, than be done fast. That’s just my opinion.
People who think blizzard are out of touch probably don’t have phones. You can safely ignore them.
Post hoc ergo propter hoc fallacy detected
By your logic every major network has lost touch with its viewers because nobody can even come close to ratings from the 70s and 80s.
Blizzard has lost millions of subscribers over a 10 year period, for a multitude of reasons which can’t be neatly tied up in a simple “lost touch” package.
Based on the recent blue post stating they will put a hold on character transfers on April 30th, I’d say May 18th is very likely prepatch date. Maybe even a week sooner who knows?
I doubt they would put server transfers on hold for more than a week or two.
