What happened?

Now, before I start I want to say that like 99% of the things we have been shown so far about shadowlands content seems good to me. But something feels weird, especially the feature trailer we were shown.

For example, For BFA the trailer was like

  • NEW CONTINENT - KUL TIRAS
  • NEW CONTINENT - ZANDALAR
  • NEW DUNGEON AND RAIDS
  • WARFRONTS
  • ISLAND EXPEDITIONS
  • ADVENTURE TO LVL 120
  • ALLIED RACES

Hell, The Legion feature trailer was pretty good and beefy as well.

  • NEW CONTINENT - BROKEN ISLES
  • ADVENTURE TO 110
  • NEW DUNGEONS AND RAIDS
  • NEW HONOR SYSTEM
  • ARTIFACT WEAPONS
  • CLASS ORDER HALLS
  • NEW HERO CLASS - DEMON HUNTERS

Then here comes the shadowlands feature trailer…

  • Explore the shadowlands
  • new zone revendreth
  • new zone ardenweald
  • new zone maldraxxus
  • new zone bastion
  • choose a covenant
  • new dungeons and raids
  • ascend the tower of the damned

???

If you compact the zone announcements like the previous expansions above ^ It would just be…

  • Explore the Shadowlands
  • Choose a covenant
  • New dungeons and raids
  • Ascend the tower of the damned

Now I will say again, The things we have been shown look great, Less RNG apparently, The zones are beautiful as they always are… etc

But… why was the feature trailer so bad?

This is coming from someone who, on Friday before Blizzcon started, I bought the Virtual-Ticket for around $53, Then after Blizzcon I bought the Epic - expansion pack for around $84.

I love WoW, I want it to succeed.

I’m not trying to be negative, but…Is this it ?

I watched the Deep Dive Panel today, it still leaves me feeling the same way.

Yeah we are getting a few abilities back, that’s great.

Is this it? I will obviously play Shadowlands because I love WoW.

But why did it take years to create this ?

Edit - Also, The talent system from Diablo 4 and the new covvenant talent system are complete replicas of each other. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, But sharing systems / taking ideas from other places will make things go faster… soo why so little content shown?

Edit 2 - its posible that Shadowlands will be freaking amazing, its possible that whoever made the features trailer just messed up and made the expansion look very thin.

Embrace for the train wreck.

Shadowland is more about fixing the screws up last 4 expansions. The tower / dynamic instance sounds interesting. Marketing material for Shadowland I agree is grade D or maybe F

Well they can’t exactly include this as an interesting selling point, can they?

  • ADVENTURE TO LVL 60

They need to fix what they have and not add more crap to the pile.

People ganna complain no matter what.

Problem is that they have the same people who broke the game now promising that they can fix it.

I’d much rather they fix their issues than forcing them to come up with bad ideas like Warfronts just to advertise at Blizzcon as new.

You’d rather they shovel out more pointless systems and grinds that no one likes?

Yeah no thanks. I’m getting my totems back and I am ECSTATIC.

I don’t think this is all, I think there is more to come. They just don’t have a lot of time to discuss it and they’ll go more in depth. There is an interview Ion gave to Icy Veins as well that gives more info.

But it is still early, I’m looking forward to more info in the coming weeks/months. I love the idea of upgradeable mounts

Lol they are ‘‘fixing’’ problem… Dont they always say it??? I feel like once again they will create as many problem as they fix.

Not good unless more is going to be revealed, fixes are great but beside some quality of life stuff doesn’t seem to have much to offer! before you burn me this is just an opinion still going to buy it in a year and play it.

Well what other option do they have really. They made new systems for BFA, they all sucked.

Eh just hope it quality over quantity i suppose

They can’t promise the world and not deliver anymore. They should of never announced Zandalari BlizzCon for example. We had to wait almost a year for them when they were a feature many (myself included) pre-ordered for.

If everything they announced at BlizzCon is playable day 1 of release it’s a step up from BFA.

Get a new dev team.

One thing I noticed was they mentioned multiple times that Shadowlands had infinite afterlife’s, which suggests to me they could add a lot more covenants/islands.

I like how you capitalize the older expansion to lend weight to your statement. Trick tricky.

I did not spend the money on Blizzcon and I did not buy the expansion today, and I too would likethem to succeed but… I think you forgot to mention from things.

New Character Models for one
New Starting Zones for new characters
New leveling paradigm
I see the level squish as an enhancement.

I am sure there are a lot of features that only matter to existing players too.

AND

I will lay odd that later in the expansion you will get more allied races choices.

AND

I bet it won’t be long before we get Burning Crusade once they figure that out. That impacts manpower.

PLUS

There are a lot of unanswered story questions that matters!

How long was it supposed to take? Exactly three hundred and ninety seven hours?
