Is Wowpedia not updated anymore, and the Wiki.gg one the place to go for the most up-to-date information?
When I search for things, I keep getting sent to Wowpedia as the top search results, but then when I get there, I get a pop-up that basically says “no, go to Wiki.gg”.
Yes, they moved to wiki.gg
It was done, because the wowpedia site had too many intrusive adds. So they migrated and everything is updated on the new site now.
Yes, the Warcraft Wiki (wiki.gg) is the new standard wiki for all things Warcraft (except Hearthstone).
They forked from Wowpedia because Fandom is a terrible company and platform.
If only Wowpedia could be taken down, Fandom won’t allow it because they get too many hapless people on those pages and get the ad revenue.
I see, I’ll need to figure out how to manipulate my search algorithim to start showing Wiki.gg results first whenever I don’t just go directly to the site anyway. I suppose it will gradually adjust over time, I don’t know how those things work.
Same issue for me. The first results are still the old site.
I just bookmarked the new site. But I don’t search Google for things when I know I want something from the Warcraft wiki.
apparently there is a Browser extension that replaces Fandom links with wiki.gg ones in search results. So when you click on a Wowpedia link in a search result, it redirects you to the equivalent wiki.gg page
so there is that.
when I’m googling, I’m looking for the wiki result, plus whatever else I can find on the subject. or I’m just being lazy and typing the search from my address bar.
There’s links on the page to Firefox and Chrome extensions that automatically change ewowpedia links to wiki links.
Don’t like these wiki formats very confusing.
