Didn’t play DF, but nerded through all of the SL.
Aug runes were really common and available in abundance during SL, but now they got for over 1k each.
Was a nice little reward to have.
Would have been a cool 3k reward or resil12.
The way they work:
- consumable in S1/S2.
- Re-usable in S3.
Running theme for the last 2 expacs I’ve seen.
We’ll get an overpriced reusable one come S3.

Have a bunch of characters just go in undermine and use the machine. You get a bunch past renown 14 sometimes

My recollection was you had to use an augment like 200 times to justify buying it, at least in SL. Maybe if you full time prog raid it would be worth but otherwise it stinks.

I still use my S3 DF augment rune. It might only be 75int, but it doesn’t hurt.

I think there won’t be a point in getting the S3 one if you hoard undermine ones now.
They’ve nerfed the sources of augment runes to basically just the tank/healer LFD/LFR goodie bags, and the slot machine at the start of the new raid.
It used to be that everyone got an augment rune from every boss they killed in LFR.
Okay, so DF followed the same structure. Noted.

I don’t run any raids at all (not even LFR lol), all I do is keys. I never even completed UM campaign lol. And don’t have a single renown maxed out lol.
But I prob got close to like 1,000 keys completed in TWW already both seasons combined lmfao
Aug runes were abundant in Shadowlands because we still had a mission table. The community decided they hated the mission table so now we’re stuck with barely anything.
If you do it once your alts can skip.
I take all my characters in there weekly.
There’s a machine that will either give you an Augment rune or give you a ‘L.O.S.E.R’ ticket. At a point it upgrades and can give you 3 (I think blizzard just boosted everyone to 9 for free because people were bugging it - so you won’t be too far behind).
The effort to reward is worth it to me but that is just my opinion.

I actually enjoyed it. I think some took it way too seriously.
It was nice with an addon. Just run it once a day. Get some cheap mats, some extra gold for flasks/pots.
\Wasn’t anything game changing imho.

It’s not a question of need, I just want it. That’s all the justification required.
Also just tank some heroics during Call to Arms.
