What Happened to WoW?

Whats up! Just came back to retail since early BFA. Decided to make a new character for Dragon Flight and holy crap is this so easy and lonely. All of it from Dungeons, Leveling, World events and Questing ALL OF IT. Total playtime of this new character is 11 hours and Im already level 32. Blowing through everything, haven’t seen a single person, or spoken to anyone. Where did the challenge go? Where did the community go? Like even on my 70 evoker it feels the same way. I understand that the game needs to evolve and change overtime however, I feel like they missed the mark. They took all the things that made WoW fun. Now I know that Classic, WOTLK are out and I can go back to how it was but I wanna play new content, I wanna play with the new spells and Talent tree. There is alot of good here. I hope that Blizzard steps back and looks at why Classic is so successful. Why ppl are begging for Classic Plus, and go back to their roots. Oooh one more thing the lvl scaling stuff is trash. I dont wanna do a dungeon with 59’s while I am 30…Its stupid.

Looks like the game is no longer a good fit for you. Can I have your gold please

Given that we will now be getting Delves which can be done solo for endgame gear as well as AI dungeon groups for casual solo players (for easy normal dungeons), it doesn’t appear that Blizzard shares your concerns.

TBF though the game has plenty of group focused content. You just have to choose to partake in it.

because it was new…and epic.
Tons of games are a blast the first few times thru.
I played classic for a while on 9 characters.
The second retail turns into that, I’ll take my $$$ over to ESO.

Wow leveling has always been easy.

Wow leveling has never been challenging. It’s been tedious but not challenging.

It’s a 20 year old game. It does what it means to do well but people move on. MMOs are a dying genre in general. Well, if not dying they’re not a genre players flock to today.

Get to 70 and do actual difficult content and come back to us.

11 hours and only level 32…. Seems like it’s still too hard for you mate.

Is your new character also a Horde character on a mainly Alliance RP realm? Are you playing with war mode on, which means you’ll only run into the relatively small number of RP realm players who play with war mode on (and who mostly won’t be able to talk to you because they’re all Alliance)?

The game was like this in WotLK too; in fact it was even worse because there were no cross-realm zones and basically no incentives to ever leave Dalaran let alone Northrend. At a certain point in WotLK people only left Dalaran to do Wintergrasp or fly to a raid.

Classic fanboys should step back and look at why retail is more successful though

I have a lvl 70 and been playing the content. I do like alot of things they did do in retail. The rep grind is actually fun and makes me want to do it. Getting geared is a great experience and super alt friendly. World pvp is always a blast and some of the best. Like im playing it cause i enjoy it.

It sounds like you enjoy most of the game. Leveling hasn’t been relevant in many many years. Fast leveling bypasses the old content quickly so you can get into the new stuff. It’s a good thing.

They streamlined it so bad that it’s boring and the only thing that matters endgame is M+.

Check out SoD in Classic. Starts this week and everyone will be leveling fresh.

a im planning on it and pretty excited to see what its about.

If you want a more intentional leveling experience, I would recommend doing the BFA leveling expansion content. It’s the default for new players and is likely better paced out because of it. If you’re doing chromie time stuff, you really are in the drivers seat of where and how long you want to quest since everything scales in every zone.

For example, if I did Chromie time I would do it in expansions or reputations I didn’t experience and spent time on exactly what I wanted to obtain from there be it a mount from TBC I never got, or WoD content. Or I would just spend all of my time in the barrens or STV for nostalgia.

If I leveled through the intended leveling expansion though I would expect it to be more linear and still fast paced but the questing would be more noticeably paced out. In WWI it’s going to be transitioned to Dragonflight as the leveling expansion.

TLDR; if you want a more linear experience where there’s a higher concentration of players, I’d go with the current leveling expansion.

They committed genocide on my race as an expansion feature. That and I hate M+

I had a very enjoyable time with the evoker going to 70. The quests where engaging and fun to do. The new zone was exciting and dragon flying was great. Like I said I do like alot of it but some stuff im just not a fan of.

Did not know of such a video, I would say thank you for the share, but I have a feeling perhaps, that you wouldn’t care. :smirk:

(Sips )

They added challenge in Raiding, M+ and PvP

It never went anywhere, are you one of the people that think classic quests are hard?
