???Question: ???
I have been trying to find debris pools to fish for this journal and have spent the good majority of several hours today running through different zones. I’ve even gone back in time, just to find debris pools so I can fish for this journal.
This particular waterlogged journal adds a fishing icon on the minimap, so even though my warlock has the icon on her minimap, its not account bound, therefore, my hunter does not have one. I have been trying to level up my fishing but have not been able to locate pools because I don’t have the icon for my minimap. Although I have several different tracking options available as a hunter, there is no Find Fish available to me.
I used to see these debris pools all over the place in Legion and earlier. Since BfA came out I’ve not found any, only fishing circles when you get up close to the water. However, I have not found any debris pools.
Did Bliz remove these? And if they did, how on earth can we obtain the ability to add that icon to our minimaps? I’ve searched Wowhead, but most of the postings I’ve found that reference this journal are old and not updated.
Any help would be appreciated.

There are a good number of debris pools around the Coilfang Reservoir in Zangamarsh. Fly the perimeter of the lake. I’ve always had the best luck getting the weather-beaten journal in one of them. Good luck!

I’ve always had luck getting them in the Wetlands
I’ve seen them very often from the satchels you get from doing the daily fishing quests in the capital cities.

Edit: okay maybe you’re right and I have a bad memory. I got to level 50 fishing from pools and open water and didn’t get the book.
I just remember the last character I got the book on was this Druid in Legion and I was working on the Legendary fishing pol., I was in Highmountain trying to catch the lures for the salmon and I got the book. I can’t remember if it was inside a box or not.
I’ve gotten this on several characters and it’s always been from the first few school of fish that I’ve fished from.
I’ll go try again on a character that doesn’t have fishing learned yet and report back!
I always go to Zangarmarsh as well. It may take a few pools but it’s never failed.
Yes, this is how I always get them for my Alts.

I get it from the fishing daily bag almost immediately within the first 2-3.

make sure you don’t do what i did…
i had one sitting in the bank, and had forgotten about it.
then i couldn’t understand why i wasn’t able to fish one up
(lesson: check bank before driving yourself insane)
thanks for all the support and tips…so far I’ve spent almost two hours in Zangermarsh and about a dozen pools with about 4 or 5 debris pools too, but all I am getting is vendor trash, fabric, flowers and fish.
No book yet.
try the legion pools its a lot faster
i have gotten 4 books faster then another area
also check the banks to see if you have it
I got numerous journals through the dailies in Capitol cities on alts.

I thought you always got it at 100 fishing skill no matter what

It seems like I always got one after i reached 100 in fishing low levels. i usually got mine in “floating trunks” in pools in Desolas around the Horsie guys encampments.
Every now and then RNG will curse you over the most trivial things. Keep at it, it can’t keep you from your fish-finding forever!
(I’ve often gotten mine from fishing daily quest reward bags)
Well since each zone has its own skill up counter, it appears I need to go to Kul Tiran areas since my fishing skill is over 100 there, even though my overall fishing skill is about 180.
So if it is true that I have to have lvl 100 fishing in any area I am searching for the journal, I’m out of luck it seems. But for some reason I thought that I could get it even if my fishing skill was low.
I’ve been doing dailies too but even the DM Faire did not provide me anything.
You should be able to get the book (in a crate) from any fish school, even low level old world schools. The crate is different from the debris school crates.
I always find mine in Northern Stranglethorn on any character I plan on leveling fishing.
