What happened to this server?

Shadowlands happened

Alliance trade chat also had someone posting BTS lyrics once. Joining the Alliance you also join the BTS army where we stan we our true king jimin sksksksksk

TL:DR MODE

This is arguably the worst expansion in WoW’s history, there’s massive amounts of backlash over Acti-Blizz’s handling of their IPs, the general hatred and deep-seated loathing between Kotick, the Dev teams and their players for the above issues, and of course a whopping 36% of their playerbase quitting or leaving in response to the above issues.

When 10.0.0 is announced we might see some people come back, but the glory days of WoW are long since dust on the wind. Get used to cross-faction and Discords replacing General, Trade and LookingForGroup being full of conversations.

I remember when Silvermoon was the Horde-side RP hub.

…Gods, I was young then!

Well that’s just not true. Just look at me.

No, wait nevermind. You’re right.

I’m not much of an RPer, just enjoyed the liveliness of this server due to it. What happened to this server is what happened to the game in general. Shadowlands is just simply a big whiff.

This has always been me. Not big on RPing but I liked how immersive and lively it made the cities feel. I guess you could call me an RP voyeur

Shut up Aggressor.

No it bloody well isn’t. Talking about the server as a whole, and general chats. They used to be fun, now they’re generally toxic. Don’t assume.

I understand the sentiment. Chats were amazing here in Wrath. Started slipping during MoP, now it’s a lot like any old PvP server was back in the day. The caveat being that my PvP and Oceanic servers are also worse than they were and worse than RP realms by far. Everything gets terrible!

I think the storm will eventually cast over once the new expansion comes out. By then most will have forgotten the lawsuit and what drove them to quit, and it will be booming again. Hopefully the content itself will keep the player base, but this is wishful thinking.

Yea I’m really hoping if the Microsoft deal goes through people give Blizz another chance. They can never take back what they did but maybe with new management around things will change for the better.

Microsoft would have to put Blizzard through an incredibly broad restructuring and refocusing if there’s ever going to be any chance of saving it. A lot of the issues that plague WoW came as a result of its overconfident and stagnant developers who believed that WoW players would play anything they would make and refused to really innovate because, “why bother?”

I’m really hoping there won’t be a dozen different things to grind for (sure as heck feels like it to me).
I’ve seen ally RP go from “not quit as active as it has been, but still thriving,” to, “where the F is everyone??? HELLO??? (echo)”. At least, as far as walk-ups go.

AFAIK, that’s the plan.

Microsoft will be ‘restructuring’ the teams, meaning the management heads will be getting replaced and the teams broken up and shuffled around to put people where they need to be to maximise efficiency.

Given that Microsoft is very rarely in the news for bad PR, it’s a given that the cancer within Acti-Blizz will be either quietly told to go away or removed from positions of authority and placed under Microsoft’s management team. That’s basic 101 for a takeover of a crash-and-burn situation like this, remove the problem people, disassemble the old social structures that caused the issues in the first place and restructure the teams so they have to rely upon and depend upon the new managers.

I hope there’s some better moderation in the future. A friend of mine worked for Volt (a contractor company for Microsoft) for a year or so which did active human moderation for Xbox live and Kinect. Said it was the worst job they ever had, not the job itself but having to continuously see how horrible people are on the Internet.

Microsoft ‘please release 4 - 6 Heroes per year, get rid of FOMO timed holiday/theme events, and add one or two maps a year’ challenge.

yeah. blizzard says they won’t do it b/c the game’s not making money but you really could just get the money to do this with selling the right skins in the right amount. And then you can spend that money to develop the game even more. shocker how that works.

anyway some of my skin ideas:

  • Vanilla Sylvanas: april fool’s skin where they recreate the old ugly vanilla sylvanas model. It’s silly. It’s charming. she does a random night elf emote as her dance.
  • Admiral Jaina: easily one of the most iconic wow designs, deserves to be in the game. Give her unique music on loading in, some unique animations, and some mounts that match the skin for maximum effect.
  • Void Anduin: also an easy one. just do it.
  • Human Tyrael: idk i’d like it
  • Santa Cain: let deckard cain be santa claus.

also i’d reduce the grind to get new heroes. that way more people play the game and enjoy it.
