What happened to the Wretched?

Back in BC, we saw that blood elves who succumbed to their magic addiction would turn into wretched. However, we never saw if any wretched were returned to their former selves when the Sunwell was restored. We also don’t know if the Sunwell is now actively preventing all elves from becoming wretched. We could assume so, but Blizzard changed all the elves in the Quel’Lithien Lodge to wretched when Cataclysm was released which was well after the Sunwell was restored. Did they become wretched during the Cataclysm?

There are many unanswered questions about the wretched. Are all high elves and blood elves still in danger of becoming wretched? The questline in Thousand Needles (pre-cata) shows that Blood Elves can become wretched through alchemy, so are there even more ways for them to become wretched? What happened to them after BC? Have the Blood elves accepted them back into elf society, or are they all permanent outcasts? Would the fruit of the Arcan’dor, which prevents withering, prevent becoming a wretched? Are void elves also in danger of becoming wretched, or do they turn into something else?

What do you think?

From what I remember, a blood elf would become wretched if they fed on too much magic while trying to get their fix. Ever since the sunwell was turned back on, none of them have had a need to ever draw on magic sources.

Hypothetically, a blood elf could still be become wretched if they chose to gorge themselves on too much arcane, or even some fel magic. But the sunwell keeps them constantly “full” so they don’t have that drive to take in more in the first place.

Also, as far as I know, becoming wretched is irreversible. The Arcan’dor fruit can prevent withering, but not cure it. Those people have already magically starved to death, and can’t come back.

Y’know that quest in Ashenvale where Elune transforms a satyr back into a Kaldorei for his selfless sacrifice to save a child?

Give that to Runas please.
