Thomas Bates built it and they came.

After spending enough time gushing over everyone’s unexpected compliments in here, thought I should give my two cents on how I continue on even when I patrol Duskwood and find no one there. Cause I used to have many nights where I would patrol and see no one else. The secret ingredient is that I enjoy the performance art aspect of my character. I genuinely enjoy putting on some ambiance music in the background and rp walking back and forth through Duskwood while coming up with interesting camera angles like I’m directing a music video. It’s something I can and will do whether or not anyone is around to see me, and that’s the true crux and key of it all. Enjoying the ride as much as the destination. That’s how you make a space others will want to share with you, cause it’s already cozy and worn in by your own love and enthusiasm!
I can relate to this. I write a lot about Axiann and his routines in Dalaran. I should take a page from your book and actually log on more, just be there.
Just made a toon here for RP reasons. MG got too silly with the nonsense. I hope something will happen here for a good story.
We typically RP in Silvermoon City. Anyone is welcome to stop in when we are there and introduce themselves.
I happened to swing by SMC for abit this evening just to see if anyone was there. No. No one was there.
Exactly! Everything here, well said. Every time someone asks on Twitter how the belf or Horde RP is on WRA, I tell them if you stay in SMC long enough with a group, more will come. It’ll take some time and dedication to get things poppin’ again, but I’ve already seen groups here and there in the city.
The desire is there.
Shadowlands was a dark time for us poor rp folk.
I’m hoping with the release of an expansion most of our characters can actually IC care about, plus a new “pseudo-elf” in the form of Dracthyr, Silvermoon will see some more action.
This epitomizes the entire essence of RP, along with Thomas Bates entire situation - we are RP, we are the community. This isn’t something Blizzard can patch.
RP “hubs” are such things, because the people made them that way, but they all started with one person or just a small number at first. Be consistently there and engaging.
A lone rider on horseback quietly moves through the deserted streets of SMC. They don’t see anyone, so they leave. It just continues that way each night. You guys could literally be missing each other by minutes. What if the first one had stayed? The second one? So on and so forth. Sure it may be lonely and quiet for awhile until you start seeing others, but if you each just keep coming and going, it won’t solve the problem.
Create a “SMC Thread” on here. Post in there, when you’re hanging around…(like The Ghost does: in!)
This is actually a pretty great idea. If I were still actively playing I would 100% be down for something like this.
Even doing something as small as being in SMC in general when you are doing something else helps as well. I used to sit my character in there when I was afk, or editing my TRP, etc.
A friend and I are planning to hang out IC in Silvermoon this evening. For my part, I think I can be there by about 6pm server and should be around until 8pm or so.
