What happened to the original Weather Effects?

I don’t know about you people but after playing Classic WoW for the past few days it has become evident to me that the weather effects have been dialled down similar to what they did in retail all those years ago.

I have tried the CVAR /console WeatherDenisty 3 but it doesnt really bring the big snow storms in Dun Morogh or rain storms in Elwynn Forest back.

Have I just been unlucky?

I’ll have to check it out

I spent 10 hours in Dun Morough and a good 48 hours of play time on my Tauren shaman. Zero weather in any of the zones. I saw the basic rain in Westfall from retail. I’m big into the immersion, the weather is important, and this was part of classic. #nochanges

This has really been driving me crazy. I have no weather effects at all. I tried to change the WTF file and I tried the /console command, but nothing seems to work. In fact, when I pull up the file after trying to save a change, I don’t even see my saved command line in there anymore after logging on. (Yet when I ask in General chat about whether people have seen any weather, they tell me the rain is so heavy that I’m lucky to have none!)

I haven’t seen any interesting weather like there is on private servers, shame :frowning:

Weather effects were so awesome in vanilla. I would the music off and just fight in the rain
Yet to see any in classic. Have only been to Mulgore and the barrens so far though

Just head to Auberdine. Plenty of rain there.

It was raining hard in Mulgore when I first logged on.

Honestly, I don’t remember much about weather from Vanilla, only that it was super infrequent.

It was pouring in Silverpine earlier. Perfect atmosphere for that zone.

What’s a private server? Serious question.

Seriously guys what else would cause this … El Nino duh.

Yeah I’ve seen a bunch of rain in zones

Makes the zone feel more alive

Can they make the in-game weather sync with your real life location?

You mean like some of this?

Night of launch in skeram in tirisfal glades it rained basically for like 2 hours. Couldnt see a damn thing.

Wetlands rain was so thick you could hardly see what was in front of you earlier today.

This is exactly what I was talking about. Some people seem to have hurricane conditions while I haven’t seen a drop of rain even with console commands.

You must have bad weather luck, cause I’ve seen rain plenty of times leveling up in and around Brill and in Silverpine Forest.

I have also been wondering about this and have asked about this. Only weather i have seen has been when i traveled through Arathi there was some rain. I was looking forward to the heavy weather.
