it feels like the forums are inactive,now, i remember during phase 3 when everyone was talking how AQ was gonna be and naxx, premades ruining the game, people complaining, people asking for tips about leveling. What happened to those things? did people quit? is classic dead now? will tbc bring the same hype the same way classic did?
Classic is not dead.
Some servers just got layering removed.
Classic has an expiration date and AQ is kinda boring.
Shadowlands will take some of classic. Then tbc will take some of shadowlands.
Leveling is dead because people can boost to 60. It’s the most efficient way to level.

that sucks, hopefully TBC will bring back those things again, cause once naxx is out i’m sure classic will die or less people will be playing
It’s about the same. We don’t have any really pressing matters that need commented on, at the moment, and people are just having fun with the game.
Player numbers are probably about the same but there has been a drop off as people get hyped up for shadowlands. Everything is to be expected.

Also, since Blizzard isn’t doing much with the forums there’s little here other than trolls and a few bored people.

Believe it or not, that hype dies down fast EVERY expansion. It’s why retail is trash and has been for multiple expansions.

Retail has WAY more than 400,000 players. As flawed as Ironforgepro’s data is it shows at least that many people. Warcraftrealms show quite a bit more than that in just the raiding population ALONE.
The total population of the pserver community was somewhere in the 25,000 area at its height. Nostalrius was able to bring together almost ~15,000 of that community together in one place.
Yes, the content is and always has been quickly defeated and people move to something else for a short time until more recent content is released. It’s just the ADHD of the current population.

I think even blizzard states that classic doubled their total subs. I could be wrong tho, I read it somewhere.
Classic peak was a pretty monumental thing as far as subs goes. Naturally it will die down as it has an expiration date with no new content.
And Shadowlands isn’t looking that bad, it’s also gonna hit when people are bored of AQ.
It didn’t double subs per say because we don’t know what retails numbers are but they said it was their biggest quarterly subscription increase in the history of the game.
WoW grew in popularity the most during Vanilla to Wrath and subscription numbers are public for that time period.
You can see those numbers increase from month to month and guesstimate that Classic brought in somewhere around 2+million subs at release.
You have no way of knowing that. Plus retail and Classic are the same subs.

I wouldn’t take the activity of these Forums (Retail or Classic) as the level of activity of the game (Retail or Classic). I’m friends with so many WoW Players (Retail or Classic) and none of them frequent the forums (Retail or Classic) yet still play (Retail or Classic).
Most likely.
Too many meta gamers in classic wow dictating how the game should be played. Pvping without a premade? No. Raiding without world buffs or consumables? No. Leveling and not paying a Mage for boosts? No. World PVP? No, dks will affect my rank.
Don’t hate the game hate the players.

I play wherever my friends are playing. I stopped being hyped for anything Blizzard years ago.
