What happened to the DRUST?

As per last interviews and video, this expansion was planned for 3 Chapters and they mentioned even on a Korean Interview, that this was decided before the pandemic.

So, are we going to see the Drust Story on a next expansion? Or Do you think this was cut off of the Shadowlands due to the rush story and issues at Blizzard/Warcraft team?

Drust were introduced on BFA and the whole temathic goes around the death with their own realm Thros, maybe we miss a small raid and zone…

We beat back their attack on Ardenweald. It’s likely that they’re biding their time, like the elementals since Molten Core.

True, that could be an option, i was expecting a connection to the Jailer or Drust as a side story like Mechagon during BFA with Thros as their zone.

The Drust are pretty bad at things. Kinda like the defias and the scarlet crusade. They get beat in quests and dungeons and never make it to a raid.

They kinda lost their battle and were pushed out of the Shadowlands. With Gorak Tul and Gorak Zahr defeated, the few Drust left are weakened and locked in Thros.

My theory? We lost two mini-raids this expansion. We lost a mini-raid in Ardenweald (Thros), and we lost a mini-raid in Maldraxxus (House of the Chosen).

The fact of the matter is, the language they use seems to very deliberate, that they “hit all the main story beats”, that it was always “a three act structure”, etc, to avoid saying they cut side-content. I do not think we lost a primary patch, but we lost side adventures. The Thros stuff was not meant to be wrapped up in 9.0’s Night Fae campaign, but in a mini-raid, to give Tyrande’s story more room to breath and do what it wanted to do. It was clearly jammed into the Night Fae campaign. Similarly, I personally believe that the House of the Chosen was something we were going to deal with. The Vryaz stuff as well as Helya may have been planned for a mini-raid, instead they got killed off in the same scene in a rushed Necrolord campaign.

I was really hoping for Blightlands, I loved Drustvar so much.

Maybe they’ll return a cpl of expansions down the line.

I feel bad for Muezhala and Helya, at this point Muezhala received the same treatment as Nerzhul on WoD just a Dungeon boss and Helya returned only to be defeated by the primus, however the primus mention that she could come back, we should put at end to her.

Hopefully, we get some Drust development on a future expansion.

Being “just a dungeon boss” is a bit of a meme these days, since honestly being a dungeon boss is respectable by the merit of M+ extending its replay value substantially.

It was more from a lore perspective, we only had few quest regarding Muehzala and few of them were specifically for Night fae, i thought he was like a General or some kind of big powerful enemy allied to the Jailer, that could be like Kelthuzad on Sanctum of Domination.

“Ashes to ashes, Drust to dust…”

Me thinks it was cut so for now it’s safe to ASSUME that they were mostly weakened and left in their realm or w/e.

“…we’ll kill you for loot if we must”

Man, how’d the Drust even get to Shadowlands. What even are the Drust? I should read quests more.

This is what I think as well. I haven’t done the kyrian path of ascension yet but that overtuned sentinel mob could have been a boss for the kyrians to test us out.

The way sanctum played out was how I thought, sort of like how siege of orgrimmar sent us from the vale to the rest of the raid. Just was sort of hoping they were gonna have a maiden/chronomatic anomaly/nightmare dragons using the center of oribos and maybe the teleporters to warp bombs out or bring stuff in

With how rushed the story was in 9.1, basically introducing the sigils, having them all taken, and reforging all of them as if nothing happened, it’s not hard to see that some story had to have been cut due to time. Was it a full content patch or a smaller story patch we’ll never know and the WoW devs will never admit to actually cutting story to push the expansion to conclusion. It’s sad because there were so many story beats that were just dropped or curtailed that could have been very interesting. Oh well…

Okay so you remember the ruins back in Drustvar that said the Drust lead by Gorak Tul were mostly killed? Well those Drust performed a ritual to yeet their souls to a realm they discovered called Thros where they exist as departed souls. Thros it turns out is a corner of the Emerald Nightmare from the Legion Valsharah zone which is in the Emerald dream which in turn is connected to Ardenweald. So like the Drust left Thros with the help of Mue’zala and traveled from the Nightmare through the Emerald dream to Ardenweald apparently where they exist as ghosts/possessed wicker constructs.

So short answer, weird death/Druidic cultists, somewhat short answer? Weird cultists who like astral projected for a second and are now ghosts.

Man. WoW lore is always kinda silly isn’t it? As you can tell I don’t pay attention to it, and whenever I do it’s just…silly. I don’t get why people get upset over it being crappy when I’ve always found it kind of crappy.

Astral projecting beings who yeeted themselves to other dimensions.

Thanks!

I think based on my understanding of Drust so far, is that they have it wrapped

Drust is the death realm of Druidic magic and their leader within Ardenwield is dead. If they had intended to make a mini raid we wouldn’t have killed their leader.

Though for the purposes of everyone else coming through the game, unfortunately we won’t actually see the restored Ardenwield fully.

Well done, huntress.

You have saved Ardenweald from the Drust, and in so doing, protected countless other realms from their darkness

Possibly canceled.

They teased the drust would have a big role in SL but I suppose the patch for that was canceled to end the expac early.

Would be cool to see more of the Drust.

I was thinking that’s how shadowland’s would look, like the city and stuff - creepy/spooky theme.
