Respectfully, touch grass.

This is a video game. Simply ignore toxic people. That’s right, use the handy dandy in game ignore feature.

People don’t have to talk to you. They have the right to stay silent and choose to not interact with you, random internet stranger.

People being overtly toxic is a rare occurrence. Don’t stretch the truth for the sake of this making a point. This post is overly righteous and embarrassing. You are one player among millions. You should not concern yourself with the way other people behave in a video game. This is an online environment, so expecting people to behave with tact and respect the way they would in real life is completely asinine. Ignore and move on.

Just to play devil’s advocate, as someone whose work background has been in retail and hospitality/food (and who honest to God almighty wants to get the H out), I’ve come to realize that expecting people to behave any better IRL is also asinine. Most of them simply don’t and won’t know better, they were raised to expect everyone to agree with them, spoon fed the idea that the entire universe revolves around them the way planets revolve around a uni-star system.

You making this comment to op is embarrassing, tbh. It is just their opinion and I agree with a lot of what they wrote.

No, no one has to talk to you in a video game. I thought that was common knowledge? Lmfao

oof the human condition. If we ALL could heal emotionally, physically and had more empathy and less of an ego - the world would be a lot better, I think.

And my post is my opinion. This is an open forum, I responded.

I said this because one of OP’s talking points was mentioning that nobody ever converses anymore. To which I said, nobody is obligated to.

Yea, I agree. You won’t find it online though. The nature of the online environment is that people are going to let their true colors show and drop their guise of politeness behind their online anonymity. It’s always been that way, and it always will be. Trying to take a stand against it is just a waste of time.

Im not sorry that the truth hurts. Cope and seethe.

Its honestly almost better that they dont. lol.
some of the crap that gets posted in chat is often stuff Im wondering if I should report…Id rather they just not talk at all, lol.

I mean, there have been some leveling dungeons, blackrock for example, where we all took a break, talked for like 5 minutes and really enjoyed doing a full clear just for the fun of it.
Every now and then a really good group happens and I seriously enjoy playing the game with them.
But that seems to be really rare.

I have my fair share of retail experience as well. People were generally pretty polite, although the occasional rude person wasn’t unheard of. Location probably has a big impact on this too - I was in a heavy rural area when I worked retail.

Is it a waste of time? All we have is time. I have met a couple ppl that were miserable in life well, in ways, and gave me the cold shoulder but I kept nudging them and messaging periodically and they opened up to me, I wanted to help them.

I do not have anything to contribute to this discussion really. I’m tired of being mentally tired lately! :face_with_spiral_eyes:

I have lashed out sometimes and have regret but overall I generally do not. I worked in retail years ago and it made me realize it’s not just the internet that strangers can be nasty to one another but even a peon like me ringing up your lingerie, one can be nasty to face to face.

I had to deal with mostly woman all day. Even though I am one, woman have never really liked me and shunned me. So ig it’s a “me” thing. All gud. I love men so much more and most of my friends since I was a child were/are male. I am grateful for my one beautiful (inside and out - seriously she is a stunner) female friend.

Well good for you! There are some people who are willing to spare extra mental energy towards helping others. I’d like to say that everybody has had moments like that at some point in their life. Definitely not the expectation, though.

Take a break from the forums. Certainly this place isn’t doing you any favors in that regard.

There’s a saying: “Smart people don’t spare mental energy towards toxic and negative individuals, and are thus far more positive and energetic for it.”

I started playing late BC/early WotLK so I can confidently say the ‘community’ may be quieter now, but it’s also overall much less toxic and things like LFD/LFR have made it much easier to deal with the toxic elements.

Before LFG/LFR you were the prisoner of whatever petty drama ruled your server. Now you can just find a good guild, build your teams and fill the holes with LFG support. If they’re toxic then kick’em and LFG someone else.

Just find a decent guild you enjoy hanging with and use the LFG tools how they’re meant to be used and you’ll find exactly what you’re looking for.

Unless of course you were one of the petty busybodies who made LFG/LFR such a godsend. Then yeah, you’ll be miserable, but that’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make.
