What happened to pet sales on the AH?

I’ve been considering starting on a new server with a considerably larger population, but I HATE starting from scratch. Having a decent pool of gold to use for professions/transmog/whatever is great, and with the ability to cage your pets on any realm to sell, this was usually the way to go.

Yet, for some reason, it seems that pet prices are considerably lower than they were in Legion. Did the people who collect pets just leave?

I’d like to avoid buying a token, but it’s slowly starting to look like a decent option…

I would suggest that its just that more people already have the pets most want to sell. I get a fair amount of pets from Island expeditions. The rare ones are usually good if i sell just 1 on a new server. Older pets dont sell for much any more.

Less gold income = less inflation. Not everyone will drop 50k for a pet if they cannot get that amount passively every week.

Its because the game is dead.

Well, that’s a bummer.

I guess I’ll list what rare pets I have and hope for the best then.

Id agree with this. We had 2 expansions where you didnt have to do anything to get gold and now that that source of income is gone prices are changing.

Some of the buyers are gone!

I had some pretty regular customers who haven’t logged on in months. Pets only sell now if I advertise or severely undercut.

Just get on the marketplace discord and advertise for gold trade man.

It’s just not the pet market that is depressed, but pretty much everything. That can be good if you are leveling alts and want/need to buy mats cheap to level up their professions, but for trying to make some gold off of selling things you find or make, it really has been quite a turnaround from even just the first six months of this expansion, little less comparing it to previous expansions.

When I leveled up a few alt professions earlier in the expansion, the things they made would at least sell for something…eventually. These days it isn’t even worth the time and trouble to keep listing them when they are selling for just a few gold each.

I used to post those Legion Medallions that level up your WoD reputations by 1000 each for around 15k, but these days they are selling for 2-3k and you have to relist them over and over. So those are not worth the effort much any more.

Sky golems used to sell for 150k-200k each which would almost cover the cost of a token for a month’s sub. But these days are down to 35k-40k and can take a couple of weeks of reposting to sell, and you have to sell at least 3 of them to cover a month’s sub via a token.

My main will sometimes see that his guild hasn’t had a single person log in for a half day or more vs. there always being a few people on no matter what time of day or night. But those folks are still around and posting in the guild’s discord. They just aren’t playing WoW hardly at all now and instead are playing a bunch of different other games, and rarely are any of them even Blizzard games.

it really does get a bit depressing when you think about the state of the game and wonder where everyone has gone.

This seems to be the case for me as well.
I can barely sell the harder to get BFA pets.
Semi-rare drops like the Albino Buzzard takes days or weeks to sell.

I’d guess that half my sales are to flippers when I finally go low enough on my prices after relisting for the 10th time.

Battlepets have always been a wonky market.

I’ve bought a lot of pets off the auction house this year. I currently have them all and don’t really have a need for duplicates on most of them. The only pets that I don’t have currently cost 100,000 gold or more. Just not worth it to me since I have over 1000 pets (not counting duplicates) currently.

I am sure that many other collectors are in the same space these days.

When did you last see a new player taking up warcraft for the first time?

The few you do meet don’t stick around, and the veteran players either have all the pets they want or have no gold to buy more.

I hope people will be more hesitant to try BFA with all the negativity on youtube and other media.
