What happened to my Shadowbolt on Affliction?

Do we not have it anymore? I see Drain Soul is being procced by Nightfall, but I kinda liked my instant Shadowbolt. Or am I missing something?

I can’t find Shadowbolt anywhere either as affliction, it’s confusing.

It’s possible that it has something to do with the fact that I boosted my warlock and haven’t fully applied my talent points yet. But as of right now, I do not have Shadowbolt at all.

No, mine wasn’t boosted. Was leveling him yesterday and he had it then. Weird.

Drain soul replaces shadowbolt, so if you spec out of it im pretty sure you will get shadowbolt back

Like Ferik said drain soul replaces shadowbolt, you won’t see both.

Additionally, the “starter” spec for aff includes drain soul, so unless you manually spec out of it you won’t see shadow bolt when first logging in.

Thanks, I thought they had taken away the spell. Gonna have to spend some time going through the talent trees and getting rid of stuff.
On a side note, did they get rid of the talent that made corruption permanent?

Oh that is good news. I couldn’t find it and was confused. Honestly never knew what the talent was called, just knew it was a fire and forget kind of thing. Like it when fighting mobs and had some annoying adds show up. Seed, and just watch as they slowly died around me.

Thank you for the clarification, that makes sense! It is definitely a bit confusing for players like myself who haven’t played retail WoW in a while. Also the fact that the starter set has no Shadowbolt but talents such as “Nightfall” reference Shadowbolt, that was a bit confusing.

That would explain why typing /cast Shadow Bolt had me start draining soul. Thanks!

‘Xavian Teachings’ just makes Corruption instant, not permanent.

Youll need to spec into ‘Absolute Corruption’ if you want it to be permanent.

Thanks all for the info. Still doesn’t make sense though as far as the talents go. Drain Soul should have a “replaces Shadowbolt” on it but it does not.

This was very helpful, what confused me is the Nightfall talent in Affliction still specifically mentions Shadow Bolt. A spell we no longer have as Affliction…
Edit: Same for Withering Bolt later on

I still can’t find it anywhere. I tried turning off Drain Soul, but moused over everything in the talent tree and don’t see a shadow bolt. Just a few spells that reference shadowbolt.

Shadowbolt is not a talent its a baseline ability the class/spwc filler .
its listed in the warlock spell book.

My mistake, I’d clicked off drain soul but I didn’t apply changes.
Once you apply changes with drain soul not specced, shadowbolt shows up.

I found it pretty confusing until I checked here. I was looking though my talents and seeing talents that refer to shadow bolt which were available for me to select. I figured if I could pick talents that use shadow bolt then surely it’s in my spell book somewhere but I couldn’t find it.
