What a nice reply in bad faith you just did here. Chimera does a lot more and the serpent sting part is so insignificant that you don’t even have to use it. Sure, serpent sting should scale but that’s not the case right now.
I’ll spell it out for you more clearly
- Saber Strike 80+ dps
- Quick strike / deep wounds 90+ dps
- Mangle 80+ dps
- Chimera shot 15 dps with the BIS bow
- Multishot 5 dps
- Arcane shot 1 dps
- Serpent sting 1 dps
Can we stop pretending hunters have options other than their pet?
Part of the resson beast mastery rune is the option for raiding over chimera shot is mana efficiency. If you go MM you are using aimed shot and multi shot, which consumes more mana, and makes beast mastery better even for MM.
This is for if mana will oom. If the fight is short enough chimera is better, but thats assuming you have the mana for chimera aimed and multi for the entire fight.
Chimera would become more viable if lion and master marksman did not compete for a spot.
Lion is so good that any rune that shares a slot with it is basically DOA, especially with how bad all the other hunter runes are.
This is classic… at level 25… No classes has “complex” rotation, get over your idea that everything has to be like retail.
BM is the “easier” and simple gameplay, if you find it boring, and I certainly do, then you may go MM and deal similar if not better damage while having to press more buttons.
That’s it. Does it require deep knowledge of 4d chess, two gallons of energy drinks and fifty different weakauras to track and dots to maintain viable dps? Of course not… Like I said, it’s classic… No classes are complex just as no content is hard. Enjoy the game for what it is, an unbalanced twenty year old nostalgia generator of when you were in highschool and you didn’t have to deal with work and bills. That’s why we love it.
And that is part of the problem with hunter runes.
The runes that do or should complement each other do not for one reason or another or they are massively undertuned in some way.
Lone wolf is the best example of undertuned. The pet is at least 15% of the hunters damage regardless of spec. So no rune at all is better than lone wolf. Thats how undertuned it is.
It’s not just that lone wolf doesn’t make up for the pet damage, it also needs to make up for the 20% stat loss, and all the utility a pet provides. It’s not even viable at it’s prenerf 25% value.
Where’s pet damage in all that just by curiosity? post nerfs

If you have master MM rune, efficiency at 5/5, mana oil, blessing of wisdom and mana regen food, you can substain dps for a lot longer, long enough to kill bosses. Yesterday in BFD I only used water like 5 times when before I was going OOM pretty much after each pull and mid fight against bosses. Multishot is the cause of the problem tho, it cost too much against a single target.
Yep. Time to bash Warriors Rogues and Priests in the face with the nerf hammer till their teeth are falling out.
Scorpid poison now does 28 damage per tick at 5 stacks, which is 9 dps. This is with 443 RAP and full BM.

I think he is specifically showing active damage abilities. So anything passive is not included.
I dont know about quick or deep wounds being on there though as i believe thoae are passive. But i dont play those classes so not 100%

That was the intent. Everyone on this forum is crying about pets being passive damage without understanding there are no active damage options.
Maybe try it for yourself? I’ve been MM, clearing the raid with ease without using either of the busted pets (Thanks for fixing those).
- Aimed shot is good (unfortunately rank 1 is a little lackluster, but still deals decent damage)
- Chimera is excellent, it crits for over 300 and refreshes your sting, saving you the mana cost and gcd of doing it manually.
- Multishot is excellent, queue it up in a burst Auto–Aimed–Auto–Multi for big opening burst.
- Set bite on auto-cast and micro manage your pet’s focus with manual casts of claw, that’s another button right there and will net you better damage than just sending it and forgetting it.
Does Auto-shot deals the majority of our damage? Of course, it’s classic, this is the case for every physical classes.
Changes I would love to see would be to some lacking abilities we currently have, like arcane shot being a dead spell, the ability to use our traps realistically or getting some form of scailing on Serpent Sting (would require a chimera nerf if so).
I did try it yesterday. It was pathetically weak. Auto shot and pet auto attack did all the damage, mana was an issue so only multi shot and aimed should could be used and it was a strict dps loss over just buffing the pet.
With the BIS bow, aimed shot was the highest active damage ability on the logs and it was only 10% of the total dps when used perfectly to not clip auto shot.
