What happened to graphics cards prices?

because aaa games base their specs around them.

I didn’t schill for them at all. LMK

this is the argument used by basically every single captialist shill to excuse corporations charging whatever they feel like. “oh your medicine costs an obscene amount of money”
see above quote.
and on and on and on. Im getting really sick of it. one time it may have been based in truth but it clearly isnt anymore.

You cherry picked the first statement (which was obvious and true…) and didn’t even quote how I said they are overpriced. Nice… I guess I should ignore disingenuous people that aren’t very smart.

Well this is also because the 5090 just launched this week and is sold out so you got scalpers selling them.

Covid forced plants to shut down operations for almost a year. So not only were items not being made, but the materials to make them were not being mined or made. Granted, it has been awhile, but most of those companies went under and now the handful of giants who survived can charge as they see fit. It was cheaper for me to buy an Alienware Tower with all the specs than it was to build one.

This is a very confusing complaint to make when capitalism is better than anything else that’s out there.

Yeah, but this one example that I saw this one time wasn’t good… so… down with capitalism… or something

Especially when those runaway medical prices were instigated and fostered by government agencies… but, I guess big government is also capitalism… or what ever.

Nvidia has both mining cards and gaming cards. They addressed this issue during the 3000 series release by introducing drivers that slowed performance if the cards were used for mining, as Nvidia wanted gamers to be able to use their products. However, they soon realized that they could create cards specifically for mining and profit from that market as well. This solution benefits everyone.

It’s almost as if you don’t read peoples posts and just angrily slap your keyboard until something… anything… sends.

Would love to say the same about you, but you haven’t been so far.

yeah and then they went and sold thousands of 3000 series cards in shady backroom deals with miners to the detriment of gamers everywhere.

Pure capitalism as it were, is actually horrendously terrible. Thankfully there isn’t really a pure capitalist society anywhere in the world (mostly because it would eventually implode). So called “capitalist” societies like the US etc, are a hybrid socialist/capitalist systems.

You don’t want to live the dystopian hell-scape of a pure capitalist system.

amen brother.

I disagree. It’s not an invalid point, but the US still abides by free trade and barter, for the most part. The issues people face are usually when the government gets in the way of things which either slows down production, sends production over seas, or drives costs way up.

I think there’s something to be said about polluting industries needing to be monitored, but, that’s not really socialism, is it?

rebuttle this to point out why this person is wrong. Pure capitalism as it were is actually horrendously terrible. Thankfully there isn’t really a pure capitalist society anywhere in the world. So called capitalist societies like the US etc, are a hybrid socialist/capitalist system. You don’t want to live the dystopian hellsape of a pure capitalist system.

Thank you for your perspective. However, there are several points that need to be addressed:

  1. Misconception of Pure Capitalism: The statement assumes that pure capitalism is inherently terrible without considering the potential benefits it can offer. While it is true that no society operates under a purely capitalist system, the principles of capitalism, such as free markets and competition, have driven innovation, economic growth, and improved living standards in many countries.
  2. Hybrid Systems: The assertion that capitalist societies like the US are hybrid socialist/capitalist systems is accurate. However, this does not negate the positive aspects of capitalism.
  3. Dystopian Hellscape: The idea that a pure capitalist system would result in a dystopian hellscape is speculative and not based on empirical evidence. While unchecked capitalism can lead to issues such as income inequality and monopolies, these challenges can be mitigated through appropriate regulations and policies.
  4. Historical Context: Historically, capitalist principles have played a significant role in lifting millions out of poverty and fostering technological advancements. The success of many developed nations can be attributed to their embrace of capitalist ideals.

That’s one example, but there’s many that would fit the definition of a socialist system. You can go back the banning of CFC’s etc.

There is no country on Earth that is purely capitalistic for the same reason that there is no pure communist system. Such systems do not function in the real world. Not without eventually upheaval/civil war.

Most systems of governance eventually devolve into regency/oligarchy/dictatorship. The only system that has been able to walk the tight rope has been hybrid systems.

Everything you wrote is consistent with what I said. You are not disagreeing with me.

Anyways, we’re getting terribly off-topic now.

I think we look at the end result and assume in this case that Government fixed an issue, when realistically it was the freedoms of individuals to express their dissatisfaction combined with our ability to vote which eventually forces positive change. That isn’t socialism.

I’m not here to debate the finer examples of socialist aspects of the current system (of which there are many). But to claim there is no socialist mix within the system is pure gaslighting (Medicaid etc).

Again, we’re getting off topic here so I’ll leave it at that and move on.

i doubt the 5080 is actually weaker than a 4080, but thats another topic altogether.
