What happened to graphics cards prices?

Last gen there was a lot of the previous gen still on the market. Making the new generation less desirable. So sales of the new gen where seriously impacted by this. NVIDIA is not making nearly as much of the 50 series as they did of the 40 series. So they are seeing high demand for less cards and are able to raise the manufacturer’s suggested retail price aka MSRP without it lowering the demand for them.

But remember the MSRP is not the price something has to be sold at it’s the suggested price for retailers to sell an item at. Retailers can sell a item at a prices higher or lower then the MSRP. Since the 50 series is in high demand retailers are likely selling them at a price above the msrp.

Inflation is also part of it as well. Because the price of raw materials and components has gone up due to it. Along so has the price of manufacturing. Tariffs also have cause a price increase.

Nvidia is also switching to a company base on powering AI then they are powering pc gaming. So a card made to run a AI program is getting a lot more time and resources put into making it then one made for pc gaming. This also is increasing the price of the 50 generation cards.
