The same thing that happened to Deep Freeze. :woman_shrugging:

Because the more you think about it the dumber it gets.

But its magical ice and fire. :frowning:

My guess would be because it was a completely different damage type (Frostfire damage) and they wanted to simplify it.

It should come back and as a cast only so we can lock our fire and frost spell schools at the same time.

It was something that was kinda cool so it had to be removed.

I’m glad it’s gone and hope it stays gone.

Flurry is so much better.

No idea. They should have kept Frostfire Bolt, added Arcanefrost Blast and Frostarcane Nova, and then deleted two mage specs.

I’m serious, by the way. Maybe with fewer specs, we could get some semblance of balance. As it stands, pure DPS classes typically have one good spec and two wrong choices.

If I remember right, the reasoning given was that it didn’t make sense because it’d just end up as a puddle.

Try not to think about the fact that chaos is mechanically physical/fire/frost/arcane/nature/light/shadow, though.

They started to focus on specs being your class instead of being a specialization that took elements from each to build one class.

It makes just as much sense as any other type of magic.

I was hoping they would bring it back.

Its one of the cooler spells I’ve ever heard of.

Only issue I can see with it is balancing mastery and throughput considering its a dual school spell and complicates that aspect.

In addition even if both effects are weaker a spell that’s the main part of your rotation that adds a dot and a snare? That’s kind of OP.

But I do miss it.

I wish they would take it a step further and make a spec like:

LOL yes. Let’s do this.

It’s magic, it’s not reality, therefore all magic is dumber the more you think about it. Sady FFB was one of the coolest looking spells to look at and they removed it.

As I recall, there wasn’t anyway to make it good without invalidating both frostbolt and fireball.

I always hated that. It’s one of those things that only makes sense the less you actually think about it, for various reasons.

Frankly I figured SL would be the perfect time to bring it back. In fact I wish there were more spells like it. If there’s any caster that should be capable of casting single spells of multiple elemental effects it’s Mages.

some nonsense about how “buh buh IRL a frostfire bolt would just be a puddle”

I’m not joking.

No, “it doesn’t make sense” is never an acceptable answer in the world of fantasy. It’s nitpicking stuff you don’t like or want to remove for other reasons because there’s a TON that “doesn’t make sense” in wow.
