What happened to dungeon courtesy and why am i being punished for other people's lack of it?

Your problem with my stance stems from the fact you think I was going slow. Bro the DPS weren’t even all in the instance yet and the healer started pulling. I was being courteous and waiting for everone. Clearly a new concept for a lot of people. In any dungeon where I get to wait for everyone to zone in and people aren’t literal window lickers pulling stuff for me, I have zero issues. Usually the issue is that the healer has a little trouble cuz I tend to pull more than one pack at a time, or people don’t interrupt specific healing mechanics and things take longer, so get off your no fun high horse and take a bigger look at the game. If blizzard wants to shuffle people through leveling content at light speed, up the xp rates and keep the mechanics that teach you how to play your class. You shouldn’t trivialize content that’s supposed to be the introduction to how to play the game. It does the game and the community a huge disservice and normalizes that behavior in endgame. No wonder you get into mythic plus and people don’t know any dungeon mechanics or half their class abilities. Then when the group fails at one thing everyone immediately bails and everyone’s time is collectively wasted. I’m really just mad at myself at this point for expecting the community to be less degenerate than when I quit retail two years ago. This is the game blizzard wants to build apparently.

2004 called and wants the post back

You’re right, 2004 wants it to be TBC already where dungeons smacked you in the face for being a moron.

If they wanted tanks to be slow, why did they give Prot Warriors the ability to charge twice and run faster after Leaping ?

Press those speed boosts.

Gladly, as soon as everyone is in the dungeon.

Why wait for people who haven’t heard it’s 2022 and still use HDDs ? They’ll catch up.

I do this sometimes when doing callings. It just depends on the group. Like for example if I have to do a dungeon for a calling. Often times you’ll get a group of people doing the same calling, everyone clearly just wants to speedrun and get the heck out of there. Especially if you get a full group of 60s, the content is an actual joke. No mobs or bosses are really a threat. Like I said though I feel out the group first before doing anything. It’s just as a frost mage I’m able to kill like 200 things at once easily.

Like I said, it’s courtesy. Clearly it’s expecting too much from people. Waiting 10 seconds for people to zone in isn’t going to ruin the game. Who tf are you speedrunning 1-60 for at the end of SL? Is that going to ruin your server first level 60? Being a decent human and courteous player towards the people I’m grouped with is worth more to me than losing 10 seconds waiting for everyone to be present and ready. I feel like the game has effectively engineered away any real social aspect of the leveling experience and promotes negative behavior. I really didn’t enjoy the grind of leveling in the vanilla/tbc days, but I’d gladly take the grind over players who literally aren’t playing the game and aren’t even given the tools to learn how.

This is why i leveled via quests. I like to learn how to heal, but ive heard too many dungeon horror stories short time i been here.

Courtesy is not expecting others to wait for you and catching up to them without making a fuss.

Right back at you, catching up to people and not making a fuss isn’t going to ruin your game.

Yet here we are.

Is the opposite of what you did. You basically malded because 4 people didn’t want to wait for you, the lone person.

If there’s no noobies in the group it’s really not a big deal

You clearly didn’t read the situation so I’m not going to explain it to you again.

I did, you got mad people pulled trash before you finished zoning in, and malded at the door that you wouldn’t tank.

So they kicked you.

Because obviously, they didn’t need you to actually tank and would rather get a head start clearing the dungeon while your potato computer catches up.

You don’t really need a tank in most cases at that level, the attitude of “you pull it you tank it” is supremely toxic in that case.

This really solidifies the fact that you read what you wanted to read. Go back to post 1.

Read it again, nothing changed since last time.

You got kicked for malding about people not waiting when you could have just silently caught up after loading in.

You were in the wrong, and you were removed.

And that’s a game design problem. Why bother having a tank role in the first place if people are going to ignore it and pull anyways? People wonder why social gameplay is so toxic in WOW, the devs have practically dug the community a collective grave with the way the game works from the start.

On my tank characters, I pull at a decent rate and pick up mobs that are brought to me/set up a “kill zone” that makes it easier for me to gain threat, more so if people use tools they have to lock mobs in place in those areas.

On my DPS toons, I am either MDing the tank, placing the tank between myself and the mobs or waiting for the tank to establish threat before unloading with everything,

There is nothing wrong with the trinity/triforce, but the latter is made up of equal triangles of equal size, so that should mean equal responsibility, maybe some of these “prima donna” tanks have had groups that put all the responsibility on them and that made them take the hardline stance. In fact I have my own, modified version of the old “if x dies”:

If the tank dies doing their job, healer’s fault
if the healer dies to threat, tank’s fault
if DPS dies to unavoidable damage, healer’s fault
If DPS dies to avoidable damage/threat it is their own damn fault

I mean, in leveling dungeons, people are supposed to be “learning”, so it would be highly punishing to 1 shot melee dps if they pulled aggro.

Tanks are also useful to keep the death ball in a neat pile. If they actually press W instead of /i malding because a DPS dared to pull ahead of them.

Caveat, Tanks doing sub-healer DPS and not holding threat when they have DPS cooldowns of their own is the Tank’s fault.

He gets 2 non-KM’ed Obliterates to establish threat and pop wings, DRW, Avatar, or whatever else he has. Then it’s straight into Breath with Death’s Due and Pillar ramping up the damage rapidly.

The MM hunter is already cranking up the Careful Aim/Trick shot powered Aimed Shot in the back, there’s no time to waste if you want to leave a mark on the meters.

MM hunter should be MDing the tank, thus making it easier for tank to establish threat.

People who care more about meters then the group, imo, deserve the tanks like the OP. This is why I say it is a grop effort, like maybe the DPS should pay attention if the tank is having threat issues and dial it back a bit to enable the tank to establish threat, or make sure thigns like MD and Tricks of the Trade are on the tank as much as possible.

There are prima donna tanks, but to me those are made by prima donna DPS who treat tanks as if they were slaved.
