What happened to dungeon courtesy and why am i being punished for other people's lack of it?

I can’t tell you the amount of times I’ve que’d into a dungeon and some dps, or recently a healer, just starts pulling trash before everyone’s in the instance or before the tank (usually myself) even touches anything or moves. what happened to “don’t touch it unless the tank pulls it?” a level 14 paladin “healer” literally starts pulling freehold the second after we zone in and I’m like “ok dude go ahead, i’ll wait. you pull it you tank it” then the group kicks me and I’m sitting for 30 mins. how is this justified? you guys need to really lose the punishment for leaving or being kicked from low level RDF if this is how your community regularly operates now. I don’t enjoy having my time wasted by some jerks who don’t have any sense of courtesy.

Some times when you take a stand, you just have to accept the cost of taking it. While I agree with you, the group voted you out and that is the price for it.

Newp.

Did you ever play on moonrunner way back in the day?

While I’ll wait for the tank to pull, that’s just what can happen if you’re gonna refuse to play with the group.

This can happen in low level dungeons because they’re so easy the tank isn’t even really needed. It’s been this way for a very long time.

“You spank it, you tank it” isn’t much of a threat these days.

Always make sure you kill one boss before taking a stand about this kind of thing, that way if it backfires you won’t get the deserter debuff.

Totally hear what you’re saying, and yes there are people with poor etiquette/social skills in dungeons. And I don’t think that this mindset isn’t justified, but I am gonna say it only exacerbates a bad situation instead of de-escalating things.
Two wrongs aren’t gonna make a right here, and there are more constructive ways to get your point across. When I tank random pug dungeons, when I deal with DPS or healers who are too impatient for my speed, I either catch up and try to get ahead of them or I keep at my pace.
Typically the first person to say something in a situation like this is the person who will be removed. It’s why if I say anything at all in game, I try to think about what I’m saying before I say it.

And again, not saying you’re in the wrong here-- just saying this is a situation that you can easily just take it on the chin and be the better person than whoever you are dealing with.

Welcome to WoW 2022. lol.
This is a new generation of trolls who play a lot now.
Best bet is get their in game names and add them to your ignore list so you never see their miserable faces in randoms again

Tanks really are not needed anymore in low level dungeons because of scaling.

This threat really isn’t a threat anymore because stuff doesn’t hit as hard and dies super fast.

The average player doesn’t want to take 45 minutes to clear a several year old dungeon that’s hilariously easy. There’s just no reason to go low and slow

I mean, OP seems like the miserable one here.

They made a mountain out of molehill and then didn’t get to play the game for a little bit

It’s because people today are much more rude and self-centered. There used to be a grouping/raiding etiquette. Not so much today. Was standard to wait for everyone, discuss pulling and looting stuff beforehand, etc. Now it seems to be “run crazy through to the end, you’re opinion don’t count.”

I generally stopped the LFG dungeons when it started happening that I was kicked for no reason whatsoever right when the last boss fight started. No warning, just kicked. Was told by some of the more seasoned members, this was a way to give the remaining people a better chance at loot. Pretty much soured it for me.

I have, however, had PUGs do a dungeon, and they went out of thier way to accomodate some of the less experienced. Had one guy that was an outstanding leader, answer all my questions and was very patient, and helped me through. I was eternally grateful and learned much from him.

So, basically it’s a roll of the dice for LFG stuff. Sometimes you get a really good and considerate group that will have your back, and other times you are just meat to pick through for their own selfish personal gain.

If it’s queued content then it’s easy/forgiving enough for this.

Nah, people were like this in vanilla. It was actually worse because plenty of people had toasters and took minutes to load in. :dracthyr_crylaugh:

In pugs? Pure fiction/fantasy.

I disagree. The experienced I had in Vanilla, was people actually chatted to each other, and interacted. Now it is not uncommon to fly through and not not a single person says a word.

Wait for what though? What is there to wait for in today’s wow?

I mean, just loot stuff? Especially with auto loot, it takes two seconds.

20% doesn’t get to overrule what 80% wants.

Turns out games and their communities change over the course of 18 years. Who knew?

I think this has to do more with the fact that the game simply just encourages this behaviour by making everything in the game go super fast.

Playing classic, people once again chatted and interacted with each other.

However almost everything in Shadowlands is “go go go get through this as fast as possible”, even from a design standpoint.

Absolutely the first rule of utilizing the LFG tool. Don’t draw attention to yourself until you do this OP.

sounds like the clowns he got stuck with were the ones making the mountain there, guy, lol.
not wanting his time wasted seems pretty flippin reasonable.
youre one of those vote kick abusers, arent you? lol

Those M+ clowns coming down to lowbie leveling dungeons is one more reason I stopped running 5 mans. Their behavior is sickening. They end up causing more problems than anything else when they pull that “MUH FAZEROLLZ” crap and pull fearing mobs so we’re all bouncing off the walls till the wipe comes.
Soon as I see one of them Im voting to kick if I get back into running dungeons again.

doesnt surprise me at all given some of the infantile behavior Ive seen in PUGs.
then theyre whimpering about not being able to find a tank or healer, lol, and cant figure out why no one wants to play with them.

How is doing the dungeon as fast as possible wasting time? 80 percent of the group wanted to just do the dungeon and OP threw a fit and wasn’t participating/not doing his job. Seems pretty cut and dry

I don’t kick unless people are AFK, grossly underperforming, or griefing

I haven’t wiped in a 5 man LFG pug in what feels like years. Everything is paper, especially this late into the expansion.

I just don’t understand the hatred towards people just doing the dungeon lol. Like if you don’t like it just play with your friends or kick your feet up and chill

The game’s design worsened to the point where there are no consequences for doing so and thus people stopped caring.
