What happened to Concentration in crafting?

Before 11.0.2 I was able to craft a Primal Molten Alloy with Khaz’gorite rank 2, using a lesser Illustrious insight and only 15 concentration.

Now it is costing 162!!!

What is gong on???

Did you try turning your music down? Hard to concentrate with loud noises…

It was decided that there should be a minimum amount of concentration needed per craft of high end mats where skill alone isn’t enough. It’s as simple as that.

Is there a source for that change because it was LIVE requiring only 15 concentration with the illustrous insight.

No, I don’t, not for that specific change.

In this 2-month old thread there’s a blue post that mentions an upcoming tuning pass coming and some discussion of the philosophy but it doesn’t specifically mention this change:

I saw some some discussion amongst guide-makers when the change happened, but I didn’t catch a patch note directly about it. I’ve just been assuming it’s intended, but it seems fair to want to pursue that question a little more.

There was no patch note about concentration costs changing to astronomically high numbers and the thing you’re quoting was about TWW crafting difficulty for TWW reagents, not DF and it didn’t mention anything about multiplying concentration costs by 10.

I posted in that thread in hope of an answer but to no avail.

I think it’s a needlessly convoluted stat, like most of the new DF profession stuff.

I know I’m probably a minority here, but I liked the old profession systems better.

Less gatekeep-y, no need to look up what to talent into, etc.

The professions kinda play like actual classes now, in that you need to do research beforehand and can’t just go in blind expecting good results. With the old system, you could just go in without knowing, and you’d get to the good stuff eventually.

The new system is designed in such a way, that I doubt many crafters have fully talented out everything and are capable of making everything for their craft.

I appreciate the overhaul, I just think it’s a bit too much in terms of a timesink. Mainly due to the talents, and having stuff locked behind 'em.

I think it comes into hand, allowing you to fill the gap and guarantee a R5 craft even without the skill.

I just dislike the amount it is going to take to craft alloys. I just feel like the crafting mats are gonna skyrocket with the expansion and will be at least 5 times expensive than it is today.
