What happened to Classic being Classic?

Because of the interview the other day, I am seeing tons of posts from Classic supporters who are supportive of eventually adding more content to Classic… why? People were throwing massive fits when Blizzard mentioned sharding/layering or starting the stats for items in 1.12 iteration by default… yet now all of a sudden we’re okay with new content like
this is old school runescape?

I thought classic was supposed to stay classic. Some of you are so confusing.

If i wanted new content regularly, i’d play retail. I feel like people who didn’t play classic are starting to realize that there’s a lack of end game content and they don’t want to get bored, well classic isn’t truly about end game content.

A few months after Naxx is cleared I don’t really see any issue with if they decided to develop even more challenging content to be pursued.

Most ppl seem to not be okay with it?

maybe to right the mistakes they made, in previous expansions, with a fresh start.

Are those that gripe about sharding also want extra content? Additionally, sharding or layering is not the same as extra content.

As for me, i could cate about sharding/layering. I would be ok with bc and even lk. But, i dont want flying or lfr/d. Those things ruined the community. (My opinion)

I prefer new content rather than TBC.

But in the distant future…like 4 years for now.

Here’s the type of people we have now:
Classic players who want it to stay Classic
Classic players who eventually want content added
Classic players who eventually want it to turn into TBC and then WOTLK (and why stop there? how about Cata and MoP again? Come on you’re literally giving Blizzard reason to resell us the entire game)

Seems the player base is becoming way too fragmented and split, combining all of this with the people who will only play retail and maybe touch classic when they’re bored.

We should be alright. After all think of the effort vs the subs

There will be ppl like me that play on classic and bc so that’s sub retention

They don’t wasn’t Classic, they just want a new game to play. Their desires run counter to what classic community wants.

They can also go jump in a lake to chill out if they want classic changes. I will not play if classic gets changed.

I want Classic to stay Classic, and then TBC but in a complete different server, and Blizzard giving us the option to copy paste one lvl 60 character per account to the TBC server and make the transition. If you want more toons on the TBC server, you have to lvl up from lvl 1.

Classic can only be Classic. Classic is not vanilla and was never sold as vanilla.

Classic = vanilla + modern infrastructure. We have known that from the start.

There are the hardcore oldschool “Classic stays Classic” fans and then there are the people who like the OSRS model. That’s what you’re seeing, OP. It’s not a new thing.

The vast, vast, vast majority of players will never clear Naxx.

“You think you do, but you don’t.” There are soooooo many instances where what Brack said back then has borne out to be 100% true.

I like your idea.

Where’d you get the impression that I thought otherwise?

Adding more content to Classic is fine… as long as the original stays preserved.

Some kind of separate, “Classic+” servers is how they should do it.

Honestly, Modern WoW needs something like that too. Servers that don’t have LFR/LFD and harder open world/different reward structures etc…
