You need a break from WoW or something. You are way too angry over something so trivial.
You’re from Moonguard. Head over to Goodshire for some R&R.

Already took a 3 month break, but i agree, maybe even permanent.
Even though i enjoy the game and try to have fun with everybody there’s too much toxicity in the playerbase…
???
I hated it too. And maybe a third person. Blizzard shouldn’t let the gardener, or some other “qualified” individual near the animation rigs…
I’m sorry, what? Honestly that’s all i can say for this logic…
Please just be honest and say you don’t like it.Anyway, this already shows me this will devolve into a headache, it’s just obvious we can’t have nice things because of entitlement, have fun enjoying your bad animations.
If realism is the aim, then i want this “better” walking backwards animation to move at the appropriate walking speed too, why not demand that too?
I didn’t see any entitlement in the person disagreeing with you.

I mean. The “if someone disagrees with me, they are entitled” angle isn’t helping.
Could i ask for more details on why you prefer the old (current) one?
I don’t judge tastes, but other people’s “the new one is garbage” really ticks me off since the new one actually increased my enjoyment of the game about 7%.Asking you because at least your claim was more civilized than most of the entitlements elsewhere.
My preference of the previous animation set, using male pandaren as an example: they would hold out and a hand and take careful steps backwards. To me that seemed cautious? Seemed more organic to me. Now they do a weird (to me) kind of rolling back step.
To be completely transparent: I have no horse in this race. This isn’t immersion breaking or anything. I had wayyyyy more problems with male draenei running animations coming from WoD to legion and I got used to it. People are just being hyperbolic about this being garbage.
I’m glad a lot of people are enjoying it, my wife is coming back to the game I think and she really liked and preferred the new animation too.
Bring it back! Blizzard, you’re going to be in big trouble if you don’t! no donuts for you
Lol what? I literally explained myself. Let me spell it out for you in smaller baby words.
I studied animation, as in I studied human movement and how to break it down artistically for years. The running backwards movement was deeply unnatural. The original backpedal animation may be a bit awkward, but that’s ok, because an upright figure moving backwards IS awkward. Humans (and therefore, all humanoids in WoW) were NOT built to move that way. It looked off in many people’s eyes because it was off. It’s about as natural as swimming through the air.
I was stating that anyone could see that for themselves by trying to perform those movements in front of a mirror, because that’s literally what good animators do when trying to map out animations for characters.
Ehh, i don’t hate the new back peddle, it just looks funny. But i really dislike how they make the animations the same for each and every race, even similar looking.
I mean. I personally did not like it because I found it did not make sense.
Walking and running backwards is not exactly elegant. It requires a little more thought and deliberate action to do it. So yeah I like the somewhat awkward back up and is why I disliked the running backwards animation. Gravity would win there and my toon should face plant with that animation.
Yeah the new one was super, super weird looking. Someone said “it was a bug” with no source attached but tbh I could find that easy to believe. Characters should not moonwalk/moon"run" backwards when backing up, because that’s not how your body works.
The new backward running animation made me feel like I was in that part of the scooby doo episode, where they had to slowly back away from the monster/villain, so they weren’t seen.
As i suspected, it went downhill really quick really strong…
Tastes are ok, claiming something is bad just because a group doesn’t like or approve it is not when many others do like it.
If i see a blue post or article explaining why they changed it and then reverted it again would be ok, because at the end of the day it’s Blizzard’s game and they can do whatever they want with it, even if the decisions are bad.
The only thing i’m taking from all of this is since i liked it and don’t agree with it being reverted is that i’m the bad person, take from that what you will (anyone).
Also, realism is not something i care about in a videogame, fun is…

And for me at least that looked cool.

Okay? I mean, if that’s how you want to feel I guess.
I do think there’s a difference between worrying too hard about realism vs just, you know, trying to apply to some basic consistent world rules. Is it realistic we can heal with pelts of light magic and resurrect infinitely from the dead? Nah. Is it, however, a step too far towards immersion-breaking to have characters move in unrealistic ways that do not conform with the rest of their model physics? For some, yes definitely.
I am not sure why you feel so sensitive about this issue, though. A question of animation/walking physics is an odd hill to die on, from where I’m sitting.
I mean it was probably a bug and that’s why they changed it back without communication. It didn’t matter who liked it or not, if it was a bug then they will fix it. Also it did look goofy as all get out on my draenei.
