Ever quest diablo 1 and 2 which I loved put some hardcore hours into that one, how about the rest of y’all. Would love to see some blues should they read this also.
Before WoW I did nothing online. I mostly just played Super Smash bros melee on my Gamecube and Crash Team Racing on my PS1.
I used to play a text based RPG called Realms of Kaos. It was a great game and I wish the server was still up.
Ultima Online, then Everquest, then I had a choice of beta testing everquest 2 or Warcraft, I stuck with Warcraft till then.
Now I’m kind of waiting on Rise of the Fallen, and hoping it’ll be a decent replacement, although I’m getting older now.

Spin the bottle
- Age of Mythology
- Toontown (yeah laugh it up)
- Webkinz, Neopets, Tamogotchi(again, laugh it up)
- Diablo 1
- Diablo 2
- Sims
- Starcraft, though not very well.
- League of Legends, though I’m now back to trying to learn it again. I dunno if this counts because I played this and WoW at the same time. Or kinda. Dropped WoW, played LoL, then picked up WoW again and abandoned LoL. Now… returning to LoL.
- Pokemon
(there’s no order to this, I just kinda pulled off the ones of the top of my head)
Mostly team fortress classic.
So, I guess my video game career goes something kinda like this:
- Child: Starcraft, Super Metroid, Lagoon (SNES), Mario 64, bit of a weird mix like that. Various old console stuff, and Starcraft was probably the most “long term” of the bunch on PC.
- Age 10-11: Whole lotta Runescape. Like. That’s it. Runescape. It was honestly a great time. I miss being that freaking dumb regarding games.
- Age 12-17: Halo 2 / Halo 3. Almost exclusively. Everything else was short-term. I have ~15k games of each on my profile. Not counting Forge/etc.
- Age ~15: Tried WoW for the first time. Loved it. Parents wouldn’t pay sub, so only played ~4 months. Got me interested in the genre, tried a bunch of F2P MMORPGs in the interim, namely Knight Online, but ultimately didn’t leave console/Halo.
- Age ~17+: WoW in earnest. I could pay my own sub, so I started again on a new account. This was mid Wrath sometime. Bout a year and a half between the two.
Of course I play other games than WoW, and in fact I’m really not even playing WoW right now. I want to get into Classic at least for the leveling, but tbh I’m enjoying myself on FFXIV more right now. I’ll get to it when I get to it. But that’s not really the topic so I won’t list all the games I’ve played while also subbed to WoW.
A bit of a tangent: For some reason I have really fond memories of playing the trial for Phantasy Star… Universe? or something like that? on console for like a few weeks. I’m not going to seek out that franchise at this point, especially since I know they don’t support western audiences anymore, but that’s stuck in my mind a bit.
Everquest, Everquest II, Diablo, every Flavor. All the Infocom text adventures. Witness, Hithchikers guide, Witness. All of the Sierra Online, Kings Quest, Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards.
Every Text based adventure we could get our hands on. Tex Murphy.
Eidolon from my old Atari Days. Been gaming for over forty years.
I did 12 years of EverQuest.
Think I went from Diablo 2, to Star Wars: Galaxies, to Guild Wars to WoW.
I’ve dabbled in a few online games since WoW, but nothing has ever been really good enough to pull me away from it entirely.
I feel like Michael Corleone in Godfather 3.
Sounds super silly but when I was little I used to wish I was Ness…
Such a good game.
Started out with the old DOS RPGs (SSI), later moved to more strategy games (Microprose, Blizzard). Went through an FPS phase (Doom, Quake, Unreal) before coming back to RPGs (Baldur’s Gate et al). Stopped gaming on my PC when games became console ports, tried a few well rated titles but their console feel turned me off. Started playing WoW because it was like the old RPGs I enjoyed.
Now WoW is starting to feel like a console port…
The Matrix Online
Star Wars Galaxies - quit when the NGE happened
Tried SWTOR but couldn’t get into it
WoW was my first and only mmo. Before WoW I played a lot of Spyro and Mario, stuff like that.
Rummy, Monopoly, Stratego, Risk, Hands Down!, Cooties, Life, Old Maid. D&D.
And then we had these games that we played outside . . .freaky sounding, I know.
Yeah, yeah, you mean computer games.
I’m old so . . .all of them? I mean I started with Pong on TVs and then there were primitive games on BBS boards and all that. I played some Everquest before WoW.
Runescape and a bunch of single player games
I seriously hope Pantheon Rise of the fallen makes it past alpha. I’ve got a beta key for it.
Been playing Everquest for 23 years.
