We have our traditional capture the flag, hold the bases, kill the boss kinda bgs,
But I miss Strand of the Ancients. I love Isle of Conquest. Getting to hold a keep from an attacking enemy force is a lot of fun, though with the more complicated battlegrounds I wish they put you through a tutorial or had an option for it. I know there’s guides on WoWhead but…some folks think they know what they’re doing when they don’t. Myself included.
I wish we had warfronts as they were promised to us - constantly shifting battlegrounds and objectives that determine the control over the “zone”. I feel like the closest we have is Ashran - and it could be better designed and less gimmicky. At this point you could do pvp and pve versions.
Gods what about airship battles? Or ship battles? Some singular king of the hill kinda deals.
Ultimately I think the issue is that a lot of battlegrounds are…busy. There’s too many objectives that leads to unbalanced conflicts - by the time you’ve gathered your group the objective is already your enemy’s.
What about something like silver shard mine - with one cart? Where you’re all trying to either make the perfect defense or the perfect offense?
Perhaps, a race! You and your party are on a caravan and the enemy is close behind - if they destroy it, you lose! Clear the way of obstacles and keep the enemy from stealing your goods!
Now that world PvP is just a dream that will never come true…
A battlefield with no objectives, just go kill and leave whatever you want until you get enough honor points for your pvp gear or when your bloodlust is satisfied.
A free for all. Something reminiscent of the Old Horde or the Iron Horde - only the strongest or the most cunning leaves the arena with the full prize - but everyone gets experience. Everyone gets honor and to train. I like it :3
They should try out some FPS standard gamemodes. Payload, capture the point(s), king of the hill, attack / defend, and even multi-stage maps like TF2 has. Otherwise I’d love to see DAoC / Warhammer Online / GW2 / ESO siege and keep gameplay. Fort v Fort gameplay (no siege) and Keep v Keep (Siege enabled). One is primarily on foot the other includes vehicles and wall sabotage to get into the others’ base.
My biggest gripe from when I played PvP more was that a lot of the maps felt unfun, slow, and punishing even if you had okay gear. Respawn timers are also insanely slow in battlegrounds.
You make a very good point - I’m not sure I’d like that either, not the way they’ve done it. I feel like if they had multiple routes into a place to sabotage and enable larger forces to traverse and occupy via moving on foot - or being able to disable goblin/Gnomish anti-air cannons so you could fly in there would be neat.
Idk. I like sieges. Just not ones with a health bar. Strand and Isle are just the closest they got to it.
I feel like there should be some like….additional help for war mode.
Like - you join war mode, and you’re automatically assigned a war party for whatever zone you’re in. Maybe the game won’t let folks into war mode if there aren’t the same number of war parties in the zone. Thinking like 5-10 people groups. This would help folks communicate, take the pressure off folks going at it alone without support, and stop groups of gankers :3
I dunno what it’s like now but I stopped doing War mode when it became extremely rare to see any Alliance out unless they were in a full raid blob back in SL.
Right, world pvp is dead because you say so I guess.
I think the only change War Mode needs is better group finder support, because it doesn’t automatically filter or even have an option to filter for your toggle. Otherwise, it’s the PvP server experience.
I would like to see mixed PVP… as in when we que it iis 2-4 teams of horde and Alliance. I would be interested to see a sort of Moba like game mode. I know i know mobas, bleh, but a wow version of Smite Maybe?
They’ve had the blueprint for that in the works since vanilla!!! I don’t know if they ever really figured out how to make it work - but I really want them to try. Maybe if there’s like - AI commanders directing armies - and we’re like hero classes finding resources for the army to boost the commander’s and our army’s effectiveness. Like Alterac but less focused on the end game?
not a bg but I would like to see Blizz put new mount and cosmetic rewards for killing the city leaders, I miss the days of raiding the main cities, never see it anymore.
I’d like to see “Kaiju” mode, where we transform into a giant beast, something like Goku in Dragon Ball and lay waste to the entire continent every time there is a full Moon.
