Let’s say that Blizz decides to add some Aug-like specs to other classes. Blizz might not be inclined to giving Druid a support spec since we already have 4 specs, but Druid logically would be one of the best choices for adding a support spec too since the class is naturally extremely versatile. What are some ideas you’d have for this spec? What animal form would they have?
I’d say move away from a beast / animal form and maybe do some additional plant type shapeshift for support. Not sure what maybe some fungal form with spore auras, and a mycelial network that connects them to allies or something could be fun.
Druid of the Talon, aerial support
A support Druid would surely utilize many forms and promote shapeshifting to adapt to what the group needs, be it healing, offensive boosts, etc.
But if I had to choose one then it already exists, or at least did my Druid knowledge is subpar these days, the Tree form.
Dryad/Keeper customizations
I don’t think support Druid as a new spec really makes sense. If Druids were to gain a support role I believe it would be guardian with added buffs to party via roars and mark or something.
The OG classes that really seem like they would fit naturally as support roles instantly to me are Paladins and Shaman. Shaman with bloodlust style group buffs, totem buffs etc and Paladins with auras and blessings.
There’s no need to create a 5th spec for druids.
We can just easily turn moonkin into a support spec.
As moonkins do damage, they will provide Elune’s Grace to party or raid members. This will increase the potency of spell damage and healing that party and raid members do, as well as 2% spell critical strike chance increase as a raid buff.
I don’t see why a support spec wouldn’t make sense for Druid? Druid is by far the most versatile class in most fantasy settings, given that they theoretically have access to millions of different forms.
Druid of the swarm, basically a plane of death druid utilizing shadow and arcane magic. Have it tied to balance. The form would be like glyph of stars but in maldraxxus green.
They’d be able to put reverse necrotic wounds on allies that absorb a percent of healing received and then the druid can release it on a whim. Add some interaction where you can displace wounds between targets, shift wounds into “thorns” damage, maybe some wounds can be exploded to damage enemies. Basically it wouldn’t work unless you have another healer in the group(although maybe it would displace holy priest as being the synergistic blooddk healer). I’m 100% fine with support specs not being viable in 90% of situations, they should be for cutting edge theory crafted content and “fun”. They shouldn’t be fire and forget meta like augmentation, let people play havoc dh if they want that.
Maybe not a single form but a bunch of abilities that change you to a particular form for the duration of the ability.
Hound
Fetch - You lunge at a target enemy and clamp down with strong jaws, interrupting any cast or channel and allowing you to drag the target to a desired location for 4 seconds.
Kangaroo
Cozy Pouch - Place target ally in your pouch, healing the target for 3% of your max health every second for 6 seconds. Any damage that would be dealt to an ally in your pouch is reduced by 30% and split between you and the ally.
Gorilla
Ape Together Strong - Grab an ally in each hand and use them to smash your enemies as you rampage for X damage per second to any enemy caught in your path. Allies picked up may still use attacks and deal 25% more damage. Being carried does not prevent or disrupt casts or channels.
Scorpid
An ally may leap atop your back for mounted combat. While riding you, the ally gains increased Stamina, Armor, Parry chance, and Threat generation based on their role. You may continue to attack with claws, and parrying an attack against your rider activates Scorpid Sting, a powerful stinger strike that poisons the target.
Aren’t all Druids technically support now since they are only taken for MOTW?
