What is it that finally made you decide to try this game of World of Warcraft? Were you a long time Warcraft fan? Were you bored of other MMOs or games at the time? Were you invited by friends to join them on their Azerothian adventures?
Personally, despite having some friends that invited me, I always put trying WoW off due to the costs associated with it (especially since it was a lot more expensive to by all the xpacs at the time). I finally made the decision to fork out the money while I was replaying the horde campaign of wc3. While I was playing I had the random thought that it would be really fun to play as the individual units (the witch doctor in particular).
And so my WoW adventure began as my fresh troll shaman, this very toon, set out from the Echo Isles. My decision was quite quickly rewarded as a reached razor hill for the first time. It may be silly but walking into the orc burrow building was sooo cool to me and immensely gratifying. To explore the world I had previously only seen from the top down in such a way was exactly what I was looking for.
So what about you fellow forumers? What brought you to this game? Any cool first experiences?
Sidenote: (Iâm also sad blizz has strayed away from the wc3 style architecture for the horde and alliance buildings because of this first experience. Though some of the most recent buildings are a step back in the right direction imo)

Warcraft 3 player that got into the beta. It was my first mmo and I was hooked when I saw that first cinematic. remember the one with the human going up a spiral tower?! That cinematic was epic! Got me hooked and stoked for the game.
Here I am - still a wow and War3 gamer chick with purpose

My Uncle got me MoP CE when the expansion came out and then I began my adventures. My Mother played it for a while with him too. Warcraft is so addictive that it is deeply rooted into my family.

Played Warcraft 1, 2 and 3.
Then friends tell me about this great new Warcraft MMO. Iâve never played a MMO before.
Friend buys me a copy to play October 2005.
I play a Undead Holy Priest on PvP Server, totally clueless but still have fun killing zombies and spiders.
Get to level 10, accidentally run into a contested area and get camped by a Night Elf Hunter, spend quite a few years after hating Night Elves.
Iâm hooked, line and sinker into this game

It could be summed up something like this: âA game like Star Wars Galaxies, but set in the WarCraft franchise?? Where can I get my copy!?!â
To elaborate SWG was my first MMO, but I was already a Blizzard fan after first playing StarCraft, which subsequently led me to discover Diablo and WarCraft. When I heard about Vanilla WoW in early 2005 I just HAD to play it.

I played starcraft before I really knew anything about blizzard, really enjoyed the matches between a few friends. Loved wc3 after that, the art, music, story and gameplay, it was like a fantasy world version of starcraft to me and had a lot of heart with all the races, lands and stories. I still love the sounds the wisps make when you click on them, and the mimi map ping sound. Sound effects in wc3 were and are a dream.
Never played or heard of an mmo before, a friend told me they were making one based off warcraft and had to explain it as an open world like ocarina of time where you can go anywhere and your view was from your character on the ground instead of top-down view in sc and wc3. That got me really excited to think I could explore this huge wide open world, with trees passing by me as I walked along at ground level, entering buildings from my computer screenâs view, fighting stuff in front of me.
Finding out Iâd be able to do some of the same spells and attacks as the characters in wc3 got me really excited. Then seeing the art come out, such as the stout dwarven stone architecture, looking like old an school disney animated film with itâs wide pillars and thick frames, and the creepy windmill like nightmare before christmas, and the alliance and night elf buildings based off the units in wc3 now fully constructed for players - it was exciting to see pictures of them before the game came out!
Then seeing the races being revealed slowing over time, I couldnât wait! I imagined a druid being able to turn into a squirrel or rabbit and sneak around enemy camps and castles, gaining knowledge like a spy.
The excitement for wow to come out was intense and what a thrill to know I would be journeying through the world. visiting recognizable but fully realized places, bumping into important game characters from the warcraft games, and learning iconic abilities.

First: Boredom with EverQuest. WoW was a very similar playstyle so we (my son and I) checked it out. I loved it. I really wanted to stay, but he wanted to go back to EQ, so we did. We had always played together. We stayed there until he went into the Army and fully retired from EQ. I came here permanently in 2013. He moved over to WoW after his basic and AIT when he was able to actually have time to play again.

What attracted me was her sexy curves. Her soft white skin and silky red hair.
Her voice sounded like a thousand angels singing and her eyes were like the crystal clear blue waters of the carribean.
Also her booty was POW!!!

The world, lore, storytelling, and just plain olâ fun of WC3. Back then, Blizzard slip-ups were rare.

My friends got me into it originally. But I left after WoD and skipped Legion. I thought i was done for good, but the Taliesin and Evitel Youtube channel actually convinced me to come back. The videos and streams always made it seem like BFA was alot of fun.
So I decided to dive back in. Donât regret it either. Despite the grind and the confusion i have been having alot of fun.

Because WoW always felt better to play than any MMO, always found all the korean MMOs to play similarly and never allowed UI edits.

I used to staff a large blizzard fan site back in the day (itâs basically been archived since about 06 or so) and while my interest in d2 was dropping I still had to have some variety of a blizzard game that I was actively playing so I picked up this early 05. Been playing it off and on ever since.
