Was thinking of ways that the character screen could be improved, and ways of filtering what you view seems to be one way. Things I thought of:
Sort by:
Default
Realm (with some form of break or line between to separate the realms)
Name order
Level order
By class
By Faction
Preset order (where you pick how you want to view the characters and it stays that way until you add or remove characters from it)
Filters are used to hide information that you don’t want to see. They don’t sort the information that fits the filter. How would you sort a filter to show all Alliance characters?
The filters I would like to see are Realm, Faction, Race, Level Range (i.e. 60-70).
The sorts (ascending and descending) that I would like to see are similar to yours:
Realm, Faction, Name, Level, Class, and Profession.
Each of these should have indicators of the specific location in the sort. i.e. All have a header or an icon. Realms are broken up by headers, etc…
Yes, thats a point that I thought about as I was doing it. So if, for example, you filtered to show just Alliance, you could then sort in, say, name order.
Dunno how hard that would be to do but it would at least be an option.
How about Last Played, ascending and descending order?
For some reason, it chose the 4 characters I played last for the character list, and despite me logging 2 other characters on, they don’t show up in the warband camp, it is still comprised of the original 4 characters.
I don’t want filters or sorts, I want groups and sub groups.
Before the nonsense of the new patch, I had my main server (where like 50 of my chars are) organized so the 70s I play were first, then the 70s I rarely play, followed by the sub 70s I have. THEN, after that, I had my REMOP chars, organized by level. This way I could just one after the other log in and do some stuff, and follow it down, so I didn’t need some sort of spreadsheet or something to track everyone (I’ve got like 20+ MOP chars being leveled).
What I would like now, would be to group them (and if not grouping, then I ‘guess’ labels and filters but I hate that) by live vs mop right now, and then by 70 vs under 70. And then maybe even a priority group which is my 5-6 main characters.
Yeah, this is doable by labels and filters instead of grouping, but that feels like using gmail instead of actual email folders. And I hate how gmail works.
