I am currently more stressed than I should be over a video game’s FOMO stuff. I don’t know why this stuff really bothers me. Anyways, I thought it would be helpful to make a list of stuff that is currently unobtainable in retail. Are there any resources out there already that show this? Or if you know of specific things, mind sharing?
I know some of the mounts are new, and the class sets do not have a source in retail. Thank you!
I’m glad you address this head on so that we can get it out of the way. To get everything you need about 1.7 million bronze. This means roughly that you need to farm about 18,880 bronze a day. I don’t have that kind of time.
Hence, me asking what can be skipped and acquired later.
I don’t have a comprehensive list, but the onyx thundering/heavenly cloud serpents drop from world bosses (Sha of Anger in kun-lai, Huolon from Timeless Isle). Son of Horridon drops from Horridon in the Throne of Thunder raid. Tusks of Mannoroth are from Garrosh in Siege ofc but #rng. There’s more but that’s off the top of my head.
A lot of the mounts are recolors of existing MoP mounts like cranes, flying discs, the kite, etc. So that depends on whether you’re good with the og colors.
I haven’t looked too closely at all the gear sets yet but I read the Kor’kron ensembles can be used by all classes where originally it was the shaman set. A lot of it is quest/dungeon/raid gear.
I personally grabbed the shado pan sets first (we could get a replica helm in game already but not the whole outfit) and hit lvl 20 for the phoenix recolor cuz I missed the CM phoenixes (and it’s pretty!). I did want the onyx cloud serpents but 77k bronze sounds like a lot.
30 out of the 41 mounts, the Kor’kron and Shado-Pan sets and recolors of the open world sets.

Kork’ron sets are 2500 each (3 of them), same with Shado-Pan sets (2 of them).
Class “sets” require Landfall or Isle of Thunder achieves and cost 3000-4000 each— can be bought on any class, just filter “all.”
Thank you! This is super useful! I actually have a fair amount of bronze, if that’s all I need then I’ll stop stressing, buy all the to-be-unobtainable stuff, and start buying upgrades. I guess I was thinking there was more stuff that was made unobtainable after MoP
I’d be surprised if at least some of these items don’t end up on the trading post at some point. Just prioritize what you really want and accept that you’ll have to wait to get the rest later, unless you’re prepared to get super-sweaty. All the tier/dungeon ensembles can be farmed on live. Not sure about mounts and toys, since I don’t care about those. The TP class sets/weapons you may want to nab, or wait for them to reappear later.
I knew the list last night, because I was making my plan, too. lol
For me, it’ll be around 180k Bronze, because I’m buying 32 mounts. Not because I necessarily want all of those mounts… but because that’s how many I need for the Otterwordly Ottuk 500 mount achievement.
Also: Huolon is a jerk and hasn’t dropped the mount in all these years since TI released, so I’m giving him the middle finger and buying that one.
That mount from Huolon is a very cool looking mount. Thanks for clarifying here, sub-200k for the stuff that will be near-impossible to get later is much much more manageable.
I guess the class sets won’t have a source (but seem ripe for the trading post) so maybe I’ll level up a few alts and get bronze that way as well
I plan to skip gear upgrade, I’m playing Remix for the missing mounts and toys. Some people still hasn’t completed “Going to Ned a Bigger Bag” achievement after farming for 10+ years.
General rule of thumb is if a toy or mount has a cost over 10,000 Bronze, it’s an item that is available in the Retail game and will still be available after the event ends. These items can cost up to 50,000 Bronze and actually make up a vast majority of the 1.7 million number people throw around.
It varies on a case-by-case basis, but this also applies to most of the 5,000 Bronze items from the raid vendors. Notable exceptions include an extra tint of the Battleplate of Resounding Rings set (marked MoP Remix) on the Normal Raid vendor, and several sets that only came with robes get “Shirt” chest and “Pants” legs options.
None of this stuff matters that much, most of the mounts you’ll never use, most of the m ogs will never be used, most of the toys will never be used. You should probably listen to the part wheree you said “it’s not that serious”.
Very good to know! Ok, so this part of the event is definitely seeming attainable. I think I will buy everything and also find those tints that can be wearable by all via the shirt/pants options. I’ll probably do that tonight!
I did not know this, nice!
I was thinking the same but if I can get the unobtainable/new stuff and then buff up it could be nice for getting the mythic achievement and title. I bet doing all of these quests and zones give a lot of threads and it sounds like mythic will be pretty easy later on
Seeing that balance tuning for scaling feels a lot better
I donno, maybe you’ve never felt a strong aversion to something while at the same time it not being a big deal. You sound like you enjoyed the ending of Game of Thrones. That “Really bothered me” but I didn’t lose any sleep over it. same here. chill.
Ok I guess I’m doing the whole campaign then – I hear that doing all of the campaigns awards a fair amount of cloak threads too. Makes sense, the quests are so much faster than dragonflight quests
