When the first hero class, Death Knight, was introduced in WotLK, Blizzard announced it as a ‘hero class’ but no amount of searching gave me a clue as to what this actually meant. I still don’t really get what a hero class is and how relevant it actually is to the game beyond sounding kind of neat.
A Hero class is a Hero.
But DK’s, Monks and DH’s, they’re considered as Hero Classes because they were well, special classes of there time.
They essentially start at a high level and have core ties to their respective expansion.
I remember back in the day when there were rumors that Death Knights were created by sacrificing a Warrior or Paladin character, which would convert into your Death Knight.
Monks aren’t considered a hero class i don’t think.
It’s a class that starts at a higher level, that there are prerequisites to use/make.
Hero classes do not start at lvl 1
I think that this is exactly the definition.
In General a class that starts at a Higher Level and Nothing more.
One of the Weakest playable classes is indeed a hero class.
that would have been really cool, actually. i thought at first that you would just need to sacrifice an existing lvl 70 character to gain access to a sk.
Hero class starts at a higher level, they required a certain level character to make.
When new, you could only have one per server (one DK, back in the day.) Later they relax that.
It was originally required to already possess at least one level 55 or higher character and to have purchased the Wrath of the Lich King expansion in order to be able to create a death knight. Players were also only able to create one death knight per realm. These restrictions have since been completely removed as of Patch 6.1.
Death Knight and Demon Hunter are the hero classes. Monk is not one.
DK 55
DH 98
Ghostcrawler - The Term “Hero Class” - “Hero class” meant that the DK started at a higher level (and also with a lot of blue gear and so on). We thought it made sense for the DK story because you’re treated as a high-level character and veteran of past events. We didn’t think that made as much sense for the monk, especially when there were so many low-level pandaren running around, and the (perhaps flimsy) justification for non-pandaren monks learning how to be monks from the pandaren. We might very well use hero classes again if it makes sense for a future class though."
Pretty sure it’s any class that doesn’t start at level 1
A myth. There are no actual hero classes. DK was originally conceived as one, but they backed off that early on.
DK’s broke from the bound of the Lich King as their faction leader was betrayed as Ashbringer, the holy blade of light would not respond to him.
Monk’s are either own hero class because; whilst not starting at a level like DK’s, you have the personal choice to choose Alliance or Horde.
DH’s are a hero class; they have sacrificed everything and were imprisoned for it. Then, only when they were needed, were released from the Vault at the Second Legion Invasion.
That’s what I think. Maybe I am wrong. lol
Broken af.
A hero class is a character class derived from the base classes, but with exclusive perks
Monks were not a hero class. Hero classes don’t start at lvl 1.
I wouldn’t really call monks hero class because they start off as level 1s and at the time you didn’t need a toon a certain level to create them like DKs and DHs
Monks aren’t considered a hero class as far as I am aware.
Pretty sure the only difference is that they start above level 1 and have to be unlocked through levelling.
Honestly, not even sure if that is a term blizzard even uses anymore.
Not monks. Blizz was upfront that monks aren’t a hero class.
Panda Monks could be considered as zero class.
