So. I’m running some MoP raids for some xmog and gold, and it occurs to me that I never saw a resolution to Gara’jal the Spirit Binder, who was a big deal in all of the Zandalari troll raids.
He not only seemed to defy the cycle of death himself, he could raise other souls to do his bidding. Seems like a very powerful character that was overlooked at the time.
I tried looking for any reference to him in BFA, but I can’t find anything. Did I miss something? Because if not, it had me wondering. Was he the other spirit that slipped from Bwonsamdi’s grasp? And if so, where is he now? Will he have any relevance with where Vol’jin’s story is taking us, or was he completely forgotten about after the council fight in Throne of Thunder?
Gara’jal: “Time be a doorway, and death a window. I will return and–”
Bwonsamdi: Yoink. “Nah nah nah, man. No more do-overs fo’ you.”

Did that actually happen somewhere?
I’d assume that Gara’jal’s spirit faded after his failure with the Council. Perhaps Lei Shen banished him, perhaps Bwonsamdi snatched him up. I doubt we’ll be seeing him again though.

A troll with the power to not only defy his own death, but to raise others, seems like it would tie in a little too well to the current story progression. Especially with the Zandalari being part of the Horde now.
I mean, a troll who defied death and raised others is nothing new really. It was the plot of Zul’Gurub with Zanzil, Jin’do, Mandokir, and the High Priests, and it was also Zul’s major scheme as well. Gara’jal seems like pretty standard Zandalari fare to be honest.
I assumed we destroyed his soul when he had nowhere left to run after the last Troll leader died. Like the Yu Yevon fight in FFX. It does just kind of fade away.
That or like others said, Bwonsamdi found him and did the same thing he did to the Troll who wanted immortality. He doesn’t like people cheating the cycle.
I would’ve liked to have seen and finished off Gara’jal this expansion, honestly. I know he probably just faded to the Other Side after we beat the Elder Council, but I always considered him a loose that I would’ve liked to have ended in BfA. Maybe have Bwonsamdi have us hunt him.

Likely his soul got lost in shadiw lands like kelthuzud vecayse if the most powerful lich can get his infinate respawn cut short so can this guh.
He’s probably just chilling in the afterlife. Not everyone needs a bad end.
