What driver updater software do you use?

Title.

I have CCleaner and it wants me to update like 20 things, but what service do you guys/gals use?

The manufacturer websites for individual pieces of hardware.

Io bit makes a very nice driver updating software.

Tried going directly to websites, but they are often convoluted and don’t suggest these updates except as Microsoft troubleshooting for specific errors outside the normal updates.

I’ve tried that, but according to my OS, they are not needed and everywhere I go tells me that if Windows update doesn’t show them then they are unnecessary.

I’m just curious if they are necessary at all. Not having any issues per se. And all these various sites require me to pay a fee to download the updates

And I’m kinda frustrated with the whole process so if there is a trusted program that will do it for me

looking into this iobit too ty

It really depends on what drivers your system has and what type of games you are playing overall. Some a bit more intensive (games) and will require the most up to date the specs can handle more often than not. Certain games, such as WoW, may not require the most up to date updates to the drivers but this will depend on what settings you are running or desiring to run - higher quality settings will require more, addons will play a factor as well - these will be a bit more taxing on your system.

Nvidia has GeForce Experience which auto suggests and retrieves the updates for the specified drivers.

Other driver producer sites should show the most up to date driver per your system specs/driver specs.

Any website or app that charges you for what would otherwise be free is a scam. Windows tells you what needs to be updated and it will even suggests when some software is needed to be updated.

Actually it does not. Windows only shows windows certified drivers. Which means they are many versions behind. And in some cases no updates when they are ones.

Most of the update software have ad based version of it. And no windows does not work very well for updating your driver that’s why all these programs exist. Window certified drivers are months if not years behind. And if a company doesn’t feel like going through the windows certification program then there will never be a driver update

Ah yes but those so called free driver update apps also have one major problem. They all ask for your email address to use them and then you end up with many spammers in your inbox because they have lax security on the database they use for your email addresses and at risk of a hacker getting you address to scam you.

The last time I did use those so called free driver update apps many years ago I ended up with hundreds of emails from scam sites or scammers trying to get me to log into shady sites to steal identity and credit card information so no I don’t trust any software at all that does that.

You have to ask why they want your email addresses and not have good data protection.

Well, specifically I am having an issue with rz616 wi-fi 6e 160mhz driver windows 11 and I’m convinced that it is an inferior network card/driver for my new computer as the latest driver bricked my DHCP acquisition and I had to not only uninstall my drivers but resort back to a driver from last year which has intermittent total network loss.

I spent several hours on Thursday to confirm it’s not my ISP, not an issue with too many devices, not a LoS issue with the router to my computer (I had them literally sitting on top of each other) with “no connections available.”

All I know is that Windows 11 is not compliant for whatever reason with my NIC card. The updated driver wasn’t a solution; so I’m stuck with periodic disconnects and thought maybe a driver program could find one that didn’t exist on the manufacture website for which did not resolve my issue.

I have no option to maintain a wired connection as my location for my setup needs to be away from the router and closer to the center of the house. All other devices have no packet losses and both up and down speeds are within the 300 megabit/s range consistently all day long despite how many are on the bandwidth. Throughput is great.

It’s literally this one device on my computer despite me nearly paying 2,000 dollars for this laptop.

I appreciate the help. I’m not too upset nor concerned enough to get a replacement, but I went with an easy cheap fix first and there doesn’t seem to be one. I did fix an issue where my connections were running through WEP and and not WPA2.

Did I mention I hate wireless.

I’m with you on the hate for wireless, i have more trouble with my wireless connection gear than any of my wired gear. Sorry to hear it’s a bad wifi Nic driver issue. Can you find a driver from a different company that will also work with yours?

You just create a Google email account for spam I’ve had one for years. Any place that requires me to give them an email address I just put in my spam filter email address.
