What Dracthyr SHOULD have looked like

I still don’t know what it is to this day, but the head on the drakonoid model is just horrible really, looks more like a fish then anything to me personally.

I don’t hate the dracthyr for what they are, but as someone who loves dragons, when the rumor first popped up about playable dragons, I admit I was hoping for drakonids. A big beast of a dragon type character would have been really fun to play, for me personally.

I still wonder why they put in the whole Drakonid rebellion questline ending with them being freed to do whatever they want with their lives if they weren’t going to make them playable. Kind of a false start there.

I don’t really like the dracthyr… they seem like a really random pull while at the same time a failed attempt at a monster race.

I would of perferred a new race with lore and culture that already existed. Something like the naga, harpies, non df centuar since df centuar are the dullest creation ive seen.

I’m happy with my Dracthyr as is. Would love to see an option to make her taller as she looks small I’m comparison to the bigger drakonoids but other than that I like the current look.

Seems like not beaten enough if blizzard didn’t got the damn memo to improve the dractyr(buffy options, more visage options) or to make the drakonid playable.

The general consensus was pretty clear

The playerbase wanted drakonid as race and dragonsworn/dragon knight for class

Blizzard saw as an opportunity to make what they want, instead of what people wanted vomited this “this is a class and a race at the same time!” like it was some sort of clever twist, thinking we would not know this is just a glorified DH but instead of turning into a demon the elf turn into a gecko and as a bonus they sell as a new race.

I dont mind the current dracthyr models. I do mind that they don’t display armor models for most slots.

I also hate being forced out of visage form when healing. I fully support being in dragon form when doing the breaths and other dragony things, but I wish it would automatically swap back to visage after those casts instead of just out of combat.

Dragons all suck if they arent actual dragons. Anything else is a basic lizard. Dracanoid is just a tauren sized lizard. None of them are all that great. I want a real dragon, not a lesser spawn.

Just because that’s what you want doesn’t mean other dragon races are bad. Draconids have been part of the Warcraft world for decades now. They actually fit the world, in terms of looks and lore. They would’ve been a great player race.

Instead we got something pulled from the dooker with awkward movements and a weird empahsis on attempting to match Final Fantasy aesthetics with a “pretty” elf glamour.

The Dracthyr are uniformly squishy, “pwease don’t touch me!” casters. Making them randomly huge but still no-contact styrofoam would only make the overt failing of making the dragon race fragile even worse.

Also Drakonoids are too big to qualify as player characters, so this is a non-starter either way.

Dracthyr aren’t drakonid. One can’t be shoved into the other’s role because they’re practically the antithesis of each other.

Drakonid already existed before DF. It would make no sense to give their appearances to a completely new race. They provided no new lore, compared to dracthyr who have the backstory of being Deathwing’s lost experiments. Drakonid just… exist.

Dracthyr weren’t meant to be huge, for the same reason DH is currently only available to two svelte and acrobatic races. A hulking frame built for swinging weapons is not something you give to a class with a playstyle of flying around and shooting magic out of your mouth. Tacking wings onto the drakonid model would result in an aberration that blocks most of your screen every time you try to glide and should logically drop like a lead weight.

With all the simping for drakonid ever since dracthyr became a thing, I have to wonder how popular they would actually be if they were playable, but I’m guessing not very.

Dracthyr are better. They’re actualy dragons with all the dragonflight’s magic.

Drakonid are scalie orcs.

If something, ask for more customizations on dracs.

I don’t mind Dracthyr. If we could add more race options for visage form, an actual big looking Dracthyr like that one raid boss, and be able to transmog visage form and dragon form separately…. I think that would be great.

That should be a customization option.

I like the current dracthyr form. I rolled one, customized it - she my purple flying lizard! - but haven’t logged in. I think the draconid form should be for the tank spec, because surely a delicate flying lizard would get shredded trying to tank.

I said this when Dracthyr were first revealed…

I disagree, the drakonids look ugly to me. Weirdly proportioned with skinny legs and huge torsos. Like a potato on sticks

I’d like the dracthyr to look just as they do, but with bigger heads and stronger jaws.

No that is a completely different race. I love the way dracthyr look. They look like a cute little dragon. I do not like the way draknoids look.

I like my Dracthyr but I agree that they should have a chunkier option. Even male humans are fuller built IMO and that just feels wrong lol

Absolutin’ tootin’ that’s what they shoulda looked like!

And if there had also been a tank spec … dare I say, I might’ve actually moved on from my beloved VDH.
