What DPS spec should I pick up?

Happy Monday folks.

Upon seeing the Triple Threat title for M+, I decided I’m going to go for it. I have been exclusively healing M+ for the past 5 years, with a little tanking on the side. I think it’d be fun to be able to fill all roles, for once in my WoW history.

I have not touched a DPS spec since BFA. I don’t even remember how to DPS. I’m going to be very bad at it. When I did play DPS, I was a hunter, and only a hunter for like 10+ years. Meaning, there are over 20 DPS specs I have never even tried.

I want to hear what DPS specs you are loving right now and why. I am a bit overwhelmed with my options for DPS, and simply don’t have the time to try them all out.

Yes, I am aware of the FoTM specs. I don’t care about that and want to hear what is subjectively fun for you. I’m willing to make a new toon and start from the ground up.

Make yourself some coffee and enjoy the rest of your Monday!

I have fun playing demo lock. Being ranged makes it easier to see my character, since I’m not stuck in the deathball of other melees and spell effects. Decent utility (teleport and gate are fun), and it plays relatively slow, apm-wise. Performs well and is fairly straightforward.

I main an evoker and to me devastation is pretty straight forward.

Demo is also fun.

I was looking at demo, but a little off put over the idea of the demons pulling stuff like hunters pets do/did. Does that happen?

Plus… IIIIIMPS!

ALL THE IMPS!!!

Very rarely if you mount up you can prevent the pulling thing and I dont think the imps aggro stuff.

So… my Fury Warrior is fun in Delves. As is my Ret Pally.

I love all of the stuns I have as Fury for Delves.

But hilariously, my Destruction Warlock melts everything in Delves. I tried out an 8 at ilevel 603… it was like he was 670 geared.

I just started running 11s on him last night at 630ish without issue. And I’m suboptimal, as I use Grimoire of Sacrifice. Also, I took every defensive ability I could in the general tree.

Oh, adding in not Enh Shaman. While it’s fun, you’re a glass cannon.

Just pop reincarn and gaslight everyone who says you died :stuck_out_tongue:

You have to be careful about jumping off ledges to skip adds–sometimes, your felguard will pull if you don’t dismiss. Generally, they aren’t bad about pull stuff out of combat, unless you have an assist macro that you fat-finger.

monk for fun

dk for invites and huge numbers

im tempted by the no pet MM hunter too but i’m gonna let it simmer a lil bit more.

Lol i forgot to mention with evoker if you grab people, try to not kill them in the process.

I have done that one too many times and got yelled at.

Sentinel marksmanship hunter is like four buttons for insane damage with incredible utility and to top it all off they don’t have to deal with the awful pet AI. Their only downside is they’re not very durable.

BAHAHAHAHA!

Wait, I thought you were supposed to kill people with that ability?

I mean there’s a talent that gives a shield handy for tanks.

Unless you turn the tank around…

I don’t use that ability. I’m not even sure if I have it.

I also found that Sen here is much more squishy than my other characters. I can do 11s, but they’re stressful. Whereas my Fury Warrior I worry about almost nothing. Same with my Ret Pally. He has bubbles.

But damn… I’m actually annoyed that my no pet suboptimal Destro Lock can take a beating to the face and it doesn’t even phase him. lol

One of my guildies had issues with their Destro Lock. I dunno. Maybe I just found the talents that work best for me.

Oh my evoker is the most durable of my characters.

I use the reduced cool down of the spell if I take damage I heal it back etc. In raids if we wipe I gotta stand around waiting to die lol

Warrior is the only class I have never played. I have leveled non-healer classes in dungeons but never reached max level or never did anything meaningful once I did, which is why I didn’t consider myself as having played it. But man, I have never played a warrior. Maybe that’s my sign

Join us two dozen people who actually prefer Arms Warrior over Fury.

I did a very comprehensive spreadsheet and a lot of research over a period of about seven weeks a year ago. After completely exhausting every race class and spec, I discovered that the Mechagnome fire mage was the most self-sufficient and comprehensive race and class for me.

I took mining and engineering so I would have access to all of the toys and wormholes and mounts. I can now travel anywhere in the game without delay, I can pick my own locks, I get four additional mirror images, and the only things I can’t do are tank and heal. I can make my own food and water and I can use mass barrier to protect groups. ironically fire mage also pumps out a ton of damage.
